The story

My grandma today during hunting season mind you just asked if we should leave my 2 cats outside while we go to town and the fact its hunting season and that people around here hate cats with a passion it isnt a good idea which I told her that and she instead of letting them roam around just shoved them into the laundry room were the doggy door is and the gate outside has a gap they can get out of easy if they get scared of something

Man, that's a wild situation. 🤦‍♂️ Leaving cats outside during hunting season sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, what was she even thinking? Hopefully they stay put and don't venture out through that gap, or you'll have bigger problems on your hands!

what's the logic behind even considering letting them out during hunting season??? i mean, did she not think that through? cats and hunters don't mix well; why take unnecessary risks?? i hope your grandma understands the potential dangers next time; do those cats even know how to navigate safely in that environment?

Not at all since I keep them inside and only let them out when Im with them

wow, your grandma must be living in a different time zone or something, 'cause leaving cats out when folks around are on high alert with rifles is just asking for trouble !!! you're right to keep them indoors. it's like she's asking for catastrophe... literally! 🙄 maybe find a way to block that gap temporarily? wouldn't want them becoming part of the hunting game now, would we? keep an eye on those felines!

We cant find one of my cats now so I think the dogs barking scared him and he left through the gap. She keeps telling me that he will be fine but my cats are the only reason why my depression is doing better.

oh shit :( I hope you will find your cat asap...

Ive called for him and heard shooting early so I hope he shows up since I left a bowl of food out and one of the litter boxes since it has his scent on/in it.

your story reminds me of a similar situation with my old cat, mittens. i once left her outside during a busy day, not realizing the chaos it would cause when wildlife was active. knowing how unpredictable things can get, especially in hunting season, it's crucial to ensure our pets are secure; i completely agree with your concern about keeping them safe and sound indoors. maybe next time you could suggest putting something heavy in front of that gap or temporarily blocking access to the doggy door. hope everything turns out alright for your furry friends!

leaving them outside during hunting season really seems risky!!!! has your grandma ever talked about why people around there dislike cats so much???? maybe she's not aware of the danger, but it sounds like she needs a better understanding to keep them safe. i once had a cat that went missing, and it's a worry you don’t wanna have! hope they stay put in the laundry room!!!

did your grandma even consider how dangerous that could be? sounds like she didn't think it through at all, leaving cats outside during hunting season is just plain irresponsible. plus, with the gap in the gate and all, it's like asking for trouble. what are you gonna do if they actually get out? seems like a disaster just waiting to happen 😒

It's like your grandma doesn't quite grasp the risk level during hunting season; maybe a quiet chat about how hunters might not appreciate an unexpected feline encounter could help.

Honestly, it seems like your grandma's got a bit of a blind spot when it comes to cat safety during hunting season....

It's honestly baffling your grandma even considered letting the cats out during hunting season. Really, it's common sense to me that you don't put animals in avoidable danger like that. You’ve got a responsibility to protect them, especially when you're fully aware of the risks involved. My neighbor once almost ran over a stray cat because people around here are careless about where their pets roam. I suggest securing every possible escape route; anything less is just inviting disaster into your home.

honestly, it sounds like there's a clear gap in understanding the gravity of the situation, no pun intended 😂. while your grandma's decision might be coming from a place of simplicity or routine, it's definitely necessary to assess the risks with a more strategic mindset. perhaps considering some sort of temporary barricade for that door or engaging directly with her on strategies to safely manage the cats' wanderlust would be beneficial. albiet unconventional, one might even reference "Schrödinger’s Cat" when discussing how unpredictable their behavior can be! stay optimistic and proactive; you're doing great looking out for your feline companions!

ain't it wild how some folks just don't think twice about the risks outside? i get that it's old-school to let animals roam, but damn, it's hunting season! those hunters aren't gonna be checking for cats when they're aiming at game; honestly, blocking off the doggy door's not just smart but necessary. people around there might hate cats 'cause they're seen as pests or competition; whatever the reason, keeping them indoors seems like a no-brainer to me 😅
