Phobia of mice
The story
So here's the deal. I just got to my buddy's country house for a little getaway, right? And this should be relaxing, but it's anything but. Why, you ask? Mice. Freaking mice everywhere! My friend casually mentioned that despite their rigorous pest control efforts, rodents are still spotted around the property quite often. Like, what am I supposed to do with that information? Congratulations on mastering pest management or something? 🤦♂️ Now I'm here trying to unwind and enjoy the idyllic setting, but all I can think about is those tiny creatures sneaking around at night like they own the place.
Let me tell you something: I've never been fond of mice. Sure, some people find them cute or harmless because of cartoons or whatever nonsense they grew up watching... 'Oh look at Mickey Mouse!' Yeah right. But for me, they're nothing short of horrifying little demons with tails and beady eyes ready to pounce on unsuspecting victims.... Ok maybe that's dramatic. However, when one skittered by my foot in the kitchen last year during Thanksgiving dinner (yes, family screamed), it further solidified my stance against these vile creatures.
To make matters worse (as if that's even possible), my friend seems unfazed by their presence! Oh sure, just a mouse sauntering around as though it’s entitled to roam free in your home...no big deal! 'They’re harmless,' he says with an infuriatingly nonchalant shrug while I'm practically hyperventilating over here trying to imagine any scenario where I wake up face-to-face with a whiskered nightmare crawling across my duvet.
Honestly though (and excuse my bluntness) I can't sleep well knowing there's even a slight chance I'll encounter one of these pests at night... Despite others claiming they'll scurry away before causing any harm or trouble: no thanks! Perhaps some folks who've had experiences like mine understand what I'm going through without needing further elaboration on precisely why this whole situation sucks royally.
