Aegosexuality
The story
so I recently found out I identify as "aegosexual," which basically means I feel sexual attraction in a more detached way. talk about a lightbulb moment, right? but honestly, it's been both enlightening and kind of confusing. trying to explain this to my partner has turned into a bit of a circus act. they’re super supportive, but I can see that puzzled look on their face. it's like they’re trying to solve a Rubik's Cube while blindfolded.
our chats about aegosexuality usually end up with a lot of head-scratching. I’ve thrown out some articles and tried to sound all smart about it, but instead of clarity, it feels like I've opened a can of worms. and don’t even get me started on the term 'autochorissexualism': good luck saying that five times fast! every time we talk about it, I feel like I'm stuck in an emotional maze with no exit sign.
we used to have this great flow where we could talk about anything, but now it feels like there are these invisible walls popping up between us. I’ve read online that many folks have similar experiences, which is mildly comforting, I guess. it seems like couples often hit these bumps when trying to figure out sexual identities that aren’t the usual fare.
so here I am, hoping to find some wisdom from anyone who's been through this. have you managed to break the ice about being aegosexual with your partner without it turning into a game of emotional Twister? any tips or tricks to help make this whole thing a bit smoother would be awesome.
