i admire you
The story
so, i've been doing a lot of thinking lately about work and stuff. i got this coworker who just seems to have it all together, ya know what i mean? like, they handle challenges at work with such grace and motivate their team as if it's second nature to them. i've never actually talked to them personally cause we're in different departments; but i can't help watching how they go about things. sometimes i wonder if maybe i'm not doing enough in my own role because seeing their dedication makes me question my own performance.
i guess admiring someone from a distance has its pros and cons: like, on one hand, it gives you a sort of push to step up your game or get out of your comfort zone. but on the other hand, it sometimes feels like you're unfairly comparing yourself to someone else who might be playing on a totally different field than yours…which can really mess with how you view your self-worth in the workplace. there was this time when a project went sideways for me and i noticed how this coworker pulled everything together for theirs; made me think twice about my approach rather than beating myself up over my minor failures.
we're all humans trying our best in whatever situations we're thrown into! and while admiration is often seen positively, i think it's important to remember that everybody's journey is unique. some days are packed with victories whilst others just feel like endless loops of dragging through tasks mindlessly until we clock off...am i right? quoting people who've said similar things kinda helps put some perspective into place when balancing admiration against personal growth means not letting admiration turn into jealousy.
so anyway, now i'm left pondering: can admiration from afar really be motivating without affecting one's perception negatively or creating unnecessary pressure within? there's something inherently compelling about acknowledging another person’s brilliance and letting it spur your motivation while keeping both feet firmly planted on reality ground.
