The story

I'm working since november in a new job and at first I tought that it would more than the same but now I really like it and I'm really glad to be there. But now I have to travel in february with My family for almost three weeks and I'm kinda sad and guilty because I don't wanna leave this workplace and I know for sure that they're going to fire me. So, I don't know what to say or do... And I can't delay the flight because it was too expensive and my family bought it in october.

I am not sure to follow completely: so you like your work but you are sure they will fire you because you take 3 weeks off? Why? :o

honestly, it's great that you're enjoying your job, but I get why the travel thing is stressing you out; maybe try talking to your boss about it? sometimes being upfront and showing commitment can help smooth things over. I had a similar situation last year and once I explained my circumstances, they were surprisingly understanding. just be honest and see how it goes!

oh man, you're in such a tricky spot... it's great to hear you've found a job you actually like and want to stick with—that's rare these days. but the timing of this family trip is really throwing a wrench in your plans, huh? have you thought about expressing your enthusiasm for the role to your manager before you go? sometimes employers appreciate seeing that genuine excitement and might be more willing to accommodate; who knows, they might surprise you by saying they'll work something out instead of firing you!! when I was in a bind with work obligations clashing with personal commitments, I came clean and spilled everything to my boss—turned out they valued honesty more than anything else. staying proactive could make all the difference here! 🙏

sounds like you're in a tight spot, mate; maybe have an honest chat with your boss about the trip and how much you value the job, they might surprise you and hold your position.

I'm not telling them until the first week of february

It is indeed a challenging situation that strikes a balance between personal obligations and professional responsibilities. When faced with such dilemmas, it's crucial to understand the company's leave policies and your rights as an employee; perhaps consulting the employee handbook or speaking with HR before approaching management could provide clarity??? I remember when I had to take a sudden leave for family reasons—the administration was more understanding than I anticipated once they realized it was non-negotiable’

Are you sure they'll fire you for a family trip? That seems a bit extreme!!! Seems like you're overthinking it; maybe it's better to just explain the situation honestly to your boss and see how they react. I've been in situations where I thought the worst, but it turned out fine after just having a chat with my manager! Communication can clear up so many misunderstandings, especially in places you enjoy working at!!!

travel plans and work stress can be such a headache, man 😅. have you thought about offering to help out while you're away? maybe checking emails or touching base with your team could show them how dedicated you are to the job despite being away. sounds like you really want to keep this position, so every little bit helps! what's the company policy on long leaves anyway?
