The story

I have a 1 yr old bunny who I give medicine to every day, I was venting to my friend in school about how scared I was. There was another girl with us who was laughing and she said ”oh sorry I was thinking about something” I call bs, she’s a rude person and overall disrespectful and disruptive. While I was mid sentence she cut me off to say something funny she saw on TikTok. Later I had a lesson and my friend skipped the lesson to go outside and the other girl, let’s call her Mary. Mary told my friend ”that girl [my name] talks SO much” while she’s screaming in school and being a pain for everyone. I was just trying to talk about my SICK bunny but no I’m not allowed to speak apparently. How disgustingly disrespectful can you be girl??

People can exhibit different levels of empathy, and it's not always malicious... but it is clearly a lack of tact... :(

I get that you're upset, but maybe there's more to the situation. It's possible Mary wasn't intentionally trying to be rude—sometimes people have different ways of handling social interactions. Jumping to conclusions about her being "disrespectful" might not be fair without knowing her side of the story. Ever heard the saying, "There are always two sides to every story"? Maybe Mary was having a bad day, too. It can be tough when you're worried about your pet, but assuming the worst might not help. Communicating directly might clear up some of those feelings of animosity. 🤔

It's frustrating when you're trying to share something important and someone cuts you off for something trivial. I've experienced similar situations and they can feel invalidating. Some people just don't realize how their actions affect others, or maybe they just don't care. Anyway, it's definitely not cool, especially when you're stressed about your bunny's health. I hope your bunny will be fine 🥰

I understand your frustration, but it's crucial to consider the broader context. Perhaps Mary wasn't intentionally trying to be dismissive and had something unrelated on her mind; it's always challenging to assess someone's behavior based solely on one incident. "Don't judge a book by its cover" seems applicable here, offering the benefit of the doubt could foster a better understanding. Engaging in a calm conversation with Mary might reveal underlying reasons and lead to improved interaction next time 🙂

I get where you're coming from, but maybe there's another angle to consider here. Sometimes people laugh in situations not because they're being rude, but because they're awkward or uncomfortable. Been there, done that; it doesn't always mean they don't care. You know how people say, "Don't sweat the small stuff"? If Mary was truly disruptive, it's possible she wasn't aware of how her actions affected you. I've found that openness can sometimes clear up these misunderstandings. Maybe giving her the benefit of the doubt this time could lead to a more civil interaction going forward. Just my two cents!
