I miss my dog
The story
Well, I don't quite know how to start this without feeling a little bit awkward, but here it goes. I've recently moved to a new city for an apparently amazing job opportunity, which should be enough to keep me occupied and joyful??? However, there's this huge hole in my life now because my lovely dog has had to stay with my family back home due to the strict rental restrictions around here 😞. It's unbelievable how critical his presence was in my day-to-day well-being!!! Am I being overly dramatic??? Is it okay to feel this way about a pet I'm miles away from?
It never occurred to me quite distinctly before how much emotional support that wagging tail provided until now. The absence is like this lingering void that just doesn't seem right or fair in many ways...like quoting a song 'sometimes you don't know what you've got till it's gone'. His silly antics always lifted my spirits when work got too tough. Now I find myself wondering if we were really just companions or maybe more like mutual lifelines all this time!!!
Some people might say pets are just animals or a scatterbrain with fur (which may hold some truth), yet they would miss out on the bond as intense as any friendship one could experience! Some fellow tenants have cats, but it's simply not the same interaction or feeling of companionship at all! Where am I gonna get those hilarious barky interruptions now when buried under hours of paperwork??? I wish the cities would've thought of those like us who rely on these creatures without disregarding legal formalities...
Perhaps I'm overthinking and needlessly worried about something trivial; however, every day feels less lively without him rummaging around...pawing at every sniffable nook and cranny effortlessly brightening up each corner, whether intentional or not! Hopefully during holidays visiting my family gives us brief moments together again; otherwise, even emotive work emails will struggle keeping morale uplifting.
