The story

So my best friend just moved out at 18 and honestly, it's left me feeling all sorts of ways. I mean, sure we talked about it for ages, dreaming about the independence and having our own places. But now that it's happened... ugh, this apartment feels like a shoebox! It's cramped as hell and seriously, where do all these things keep disappearing to? It's like there's some black hole hidden under the bed or something - keys today, socks tomorrow!!! Weird part though, ever since they're gone, I'm feeling kinda nostalgic but also oddly liberated... Can you believe that?!?! A whole wave of emotions hit me every morning. One minute I'm thrilled to be living on my own terms and then suddenly I misplace something else and the stress just knocks me back into reality;

Anyway, what's up with this lonely vibe creeping in these days? It’s not like I haven't lived by myself before (ok maybe once during camp) but everything feels quieter now. Aren’t apartments supposed to amplify excitement when you have them all to yourself? When did silence become so freaking loud? Only last week was everything lively until BAM!!! it's this empty echoey space that doesn't feel entirely like home anymore... Hadn’t seen that coming at 18 right!? Maybe I expected too much too soon.

At least there are some silver linings peeking through if I squint hard enough 🧐 There's something cool about figuring stuff out solo even if it feels shaky sometimes. Things will eventually settle down I guess(?) after this initial chaos calms down inside my head... Seasons change people said! Hope hanging onto that keeps me from losing motivation because standing tall on your feet seems tougher than how they always described in those fancy motivational speeches! Gonna try sticking to feeling positive 'cos wallowing ain’t doing any justice at all.

Isn't having your own space worth dealing with the missing items though? Do you think you'll adjust over time?
