ghosting a friend
The story
lately, i've been feeling like i'm drowning in my personal life. there's work stress and family obligations that keep piling up like some sort of never-ending Jenga tower. i just couldn't handle the constant pressure from every side anymore. to add to the chaos, my best friend was always there with their nonstop updates and emotional needs; it got really overwhelming.
so, i did something that i'm not proud of: i started distancing myself from them without saying why. it's been weighing heavily on my conscience. every day i think about calling or texting them but then the anxiety kicks in and i freeze.
i read this quote somewhere: "communication is the oxygen of relationships"...and it hit me hard because here i am choking our friendship by staying silent 😔; but truth is, words seem difficult right now.
a part of me wants to believe they'll understand once explained but another side worries if they'd feel betrayed or hurt by my sudden absence. guilt’s such a tricky thing! sometimes it feels like an endless spiral that drags you down deeper when all you want is to float back up.
while crafting a message explaining everything seems daunting i can't help but imagine how relieved i'd feel once things are out in the open. maybe tomorrow i'll gather enough courage to reach out... who knows? for now though this venting will have to do.
