The story
It's crazy to me that im just a kid and im already thinking about how life is gonna be when im gonna turn 20. Will i find a partner? (probably not). Will i find a house or a flat to live in? Will i struggle with rent? Will i finally get a cat to keep me company like one did in a dream of mine? Will i go out? I think u know the drill but one of the questions is different to me at least. And that one is: Will i even make it to 20?
I know i am a coward and that i cant do anything without guidance so the honest and most likely answer would be no, i won't make it to 20. But does that mean, that i have to throw all my dreams away now? My dreams of playing guitar, my dreams of photographing and my one and only important dream to find someone who will get me? Not even a partner but perhaps, my muse? My best friend? My soulmate? I always had a picture in my mind of this girl. Ginger hair, Freckles everywhere, long and sharp eyeliner, smoky eyeshadow, lip piercing, dark brown eyes, skinny figure, looking straight into my camera lens with eyes full of love and patience. Someone who would never turn her back on me but i know it's unrealistic, i cant find someone with those specific features but god i just wish someone could tell me that its gonna be okay, i will get through 20, i will be happy, i wont be stuck in a loop of working and laying on my bed staring at the ceiling, someone who would both tell me and make me feel like im worth something. Someone who will tell me that and say it to my face so i will never forget that.
This is so corny man i hate myself

it's normal to have all these thoughts swirling around, especially at young age. truth is, life is unpredictable and nobody can really tell what the future holds. focusing on everything at once might be overwhelming, so maybe try taking small steps toward those dreams you mentioned. you're not a coward for wanting guidance; it's just human nature to want support. don't write yourself off yet, there's still time for things to change and improve!!
i totally feel this, lol. when i was your age i was also obsessed with thinking about the future and how it might turn out. i used to imagine myself as a successful artist, surrounded by cool friends in a big city. now i'm 25 and still figuring things out but looking back, it's kinda funny how life takes its own turns. once you find that one thing you're passionate about, everything else just falls into place eventually.
Yeah, finding passion is key! I'm still searching for mine.
yo i feel you, it's wild how we obsess over the future like it's some kind of ticking time bomb; guess that's just being human though. but here's a lil reality check, none of us have it all figured out and honestly dude most people don't find their "muse" exactly as they pictured either 😅. you're not alone in this whole mess and maybe life will surprise you with things you didn't even know you'd care about. hang in there man
Thinking about the future is pretty intense when you're still young; it's like looking at a giant jigsaw puzzle with pieces scattered everywhere, not knowing what it'll form. Yet, nothing is set in stone, and there's room for those dreams to breathe and evolve. Don't rush to conclusions. If even Einstein had doubts sometimes, you're in good company! 😊 Life can surprise you in totally unexpected ways and bring opportunities where you least expect them. Stay open-hearted!
Yo, when I was 16, my head was all over the place too, thinking I'd never make it past 18; but here I am in my 30s and life’s still tossing surprises at me left and right!
The uncertainty you're feeling is completely understandable, and it's totally okay to have these dreams even if they feel distant right now; sometimes envisioning our future selves can actually give us a better sense of direction.
oh wow, it's like you just cracked open the existential musings playbook of half my teenage years. trust me, we've all been there... imagining every possible scenario like life's a choose-your-own-adventure book. i remember having this vivid mental sketch of an impossibly cool future self who was daring and successful. spoiler alert: real life doesn't come with those neat packages, and that ginger-haired muse of yours might not look exactly how you picture her. still, the surprising thing is how you find pieces of your dreams in unexpected places once you're knee-deep in the journey itself. you'll be surprised at what happens when you focus on those small joys like playing guitar or capturing moments through photography. sometimes along the way, you'll stumble upon someone who makes it feel like maybe you’re doing alright after all. keep dreaming but also leave room for pleasant surprises!
It's clear you're wrestling with a lot of concerns about the future, which isn't uncommon at all, especially when faced with the uncertainty of youth. However, I can't help but wonder what makes you feel certain that you won't make it to 20. Is there something specific that's driving that thought? It's interesting how you've crafted such a vivid image of your ideal companion; perhaps this is more symbolic of what you're seeking emotionally rather than something literal. Maybe it's not about finding someone who matches every detail but rather an emotional connection that resonates with those qualities you value so deeply. Remember too, life isn't always a straight path and while your dreams might seem distant now, they're not necessarily out of reach. Keep nurturing those passions like guitar playing or photography because they can be powerful catalysts for change in ways you might not expect;
I get where you're coming from; overthinking the future can really mess with your head, huh? But trust me, even if it feels like you'll never find that exact girl or hit those dreams, life has this weird way of throwing surprises at you. When I was a kid, I thought I'd never make it past high school and now I'm doing stuff I never imagined. Maybe it's not about having every answer right now but just rolling with what comes your way and seeing where it takes you;
I ask myself the same!
Thinking about your future when you're just a teenager is like getting lost in a psychological thriller; I used to wonder the same things, expecting life to be full of certainties.
Man, I totally get where you're coming from. it's like this mix of dread and anticipation that weighs on you sometimes; but thinking you'll never make it to 20 is pretty heavy stuff! When I was around your age, I was convinced I'd be stuck in a job I hated forever, just mindlessly drifting along. Turned out, life had its own set of curveballs waiting for me. While those detailed dreams feel impossible now, sometimes they're just a nudge telling us what we value deeply inside. Don't beat yourself up over specifics like the ginger-haired muse (although that sounds cool); focus on finding meaningful connections with people who really get you instead. Also, keep chasing those passions 'cause they open doors to places and experiences you can't even imagine yet! 😊
Wow, that's a lot to ponder at such a young age! But I'm curious... what made you start thinking so deeply about these things? Is it something specific going on in your life right now? It's really interesting hearing someone so young articulate all these thoughts so clearly.
Some days just throw us into deep thoughts!
dude, i can totally relate to those thoughts! when i was your age, i used to picture what life would be like and it scared me not knowing if i'd ever get there. sometimes dealing with today feels hard enough without stressing about tomorrow, ya know? ✨ but don't beat yourself up too much over dreaming big or feeling lost; it's just part of figuring things out. who knows, you might end up finding happiness in places you never even imagined!
i totally get where you’re coming from, and honestly, imagining what the future holds can feel overwhelming. i remember being your age and sitting in my room, just staring at the wall, wondering about all these "what ifs". surprisingly though, sometimes those moments of uncertainty push us to really think about what we want most. keep dreaming about that perfect person or any other dreams you have... oddly enough, life's unpredictability often brings things we haven't even thought of yet in amazing ways.
I felt like this at 16 too.
