dont sweat the small stuff
The story
So there I am in the kitchen, right? Rocking my morning routine or so I thought. Got my eggs going, kettle's on for a nice cuppa and then there's the toast: slightly burnt; it's like it was mocking me or something... First reaction is to just shrug it off but no, my brain decided today of all days that this is worth spiraling over. You ever get that feeling where one small thing tips the scale and suddenly everything feels wrong?! Like come on, it's just toast! Anyway, as I stood there rubbing my temples thinking 'is this really happening?', memories start flooding back from other mornings when stuff went haywire and now it's a whole montage in my head. It's wild how these tiny mishaps pile up into what feels like an avalanche of stress, isn't it?
But wait! That's not even the whole picture: after staring at this mess for what felt like forever, you know what popped into my mind? This quote from some self-help guru along the lines of 'don't sweat the small stuff'; you've probably heard variations of it all over the place. Of course, here we are having an internal meltdown because apparently that's what I do best... Irony much?! 😂 It's not like I'm oblivious to how ridiculous this all sounds but logic doesn't exactly help when emotion takes over. Someone should invent a switch where we can just flip our moods back to sane mode when needed.
Anyway, who am I kidding thinking they'll be no bigger fish to fry later today and let's be real those fishes seem pretty eager lately! 🤷♂️ Call me old-fashioned but sometimes you gotta let bygones be bygones (though admittedly easier said than done). But hey, maybe tomorrow it'll be someone else's turn to face faulty appliances or whatever minor inconvenience finds its way onto our paths! In any case venting about it does help (even if only a little bit) sharing grievances for solidarity's sake never hurt anyone did it?
