how to get back at your ex?
The story
I've spent all night typing "how to get back at your ex?" into my notes like the answer will climb out of my phone. Casey cheated with a coworker, dumped me, and sprinted into the glossy new couple phase while I was still finding their socks behind my dryer. Casey's cheating isn't ambiguous to me, it just pisses me off. Now I discovered they are using the vacation spreadsheet I built for us to plan a romantic trip with the person they left me for. Cute!!! 😡
At 2:13 a.m., a shared file notification flashed on my screen because Casey edited the sheet. I opened it and saw my color coded tabs for lodging, transit, food, and backup plans filled with their new trip. The airfare cell still had the $480 ceiling I entered when Casey and I were planning our abandoned getaway. Comments under Casey's name said, "keeping the old planning thing useful lol." They even replaced our note about a quiet anniversary dinner with "balcony breakfast ❤️." The audacity is almost impressive.
My brain immediately started editing Casey's trip in the nastiest possible way. I could quietly replace every resrvation link with something believable but disastrous. The downtown boutique hotel could become a similar looking airport hotel. The ferry link could lead to a route leaving from the wrong harbor. The fancy restaurant could become a place with the same name across the state line. Every replacement would look plausible until they arrived, tired and smug, and realized their precious romantic escape was a logistical dumpster fire!!!
The problem is the revision history shows my account, my name, and my stupid smiling avatar beside every change. Casey knows I own the sheet, so there is no clever anonymity here. If I touch those links, the forensic trail points straight at me. Also, the person Casey left me for may have known about the cheating, or Casey may have fed them complete garbage. I have no idea. Hotel clerks, ferry workers, and restaurant staff would also absorb the complaints, which is collateral damage I don't actually want.
This spreadsheet is making me remember the last petty breakup thing I did, when I mailed an old boyfriend's key back inside a cereal box because he hated crumbs. The satisfaction lasted until tracking said delivered, which is exactly why I suspect Casey's ruined itinerary might feel empty by breakfast. Still, this sheet was my weird little masterpiece. I compared cancellation terms, wrote packing notes, and picked places Casey claimed to love. Watching them recycle that labor for their cheating victory lap feels like having my brain stolen and gift wrapped for an asshole🤡
The sensible move is to save my own copy, remove Casey's access, and send a blunt message saying I saw the edits. The vicious move is to swap the links and let the trip implode. A silent third option is leaving the sheet untouched while Casey keeps treating my work like a free travel service, and that option makes my skin crawl. So, with Casey camped in my spreadsheet and my account attached to every cell, how to get back at your ex?
