The story

Life sure knows how to throw curveballs. I've always thought I was as straight as an arrow. My friends and family even joked that I’d end up single forever because I was so set in my beliefs. But then something bizarre happened that feels like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie.

So, there’s this friend I’ve had for years... like, since high school. We’ve shared everything: laughter, tears, and those late-night drunken chats that could fill a library (thankfully, they didn’t). I always saw them as just a friend, a really solid one. Then, out of nowhere, I started looking at them differently. I’m sitting across from them at a table, and suddenly I’m like, whoa, maybe there’s something more here?

Now, I’m sitting here at this ridiculous hour, my mind spinning like a carousel that forgot how to stop. Am I gay? Bi? Did some switch flip in my brain while I was sleeping? It’s like trying to decipher a bowl of alphabet soup when you didn’t even know there were secret letters hiding in there. And it’s not just confusing; it’s downright annoying. Seriously, universe, could you have given me a little heads-up?

People love to say things like “go with the flow” or “follow your heart,” but honestly, it feels less like poetry and more like wandering through an IKEA without a map or meatballs to comfort me. It’s so frustrating having to rethink everything I thought I knew about myself. It’s like I pressed the reset button after I was sure I had beaten the game.

So here I am, venting anonymously on the internet, hoping someone out there has some wisdom or at least can relate. These emotions are so inconvenient and unexpected. Society makes it seem like we should have everything figured out by now, and that’s just nonsense. Is there anyone else out there feeling this way?
