I kept on pushing her away, and now I regret it

The story

Hey guys, it's the dead of the night at my country and I hope that someone can read this, this is about my ex and I.

Last November of 2025, we broke up and it hurt me yes. But what happened was after a few months (around March of the current year) we talked again, and I insisted that I don't love her anymore even though I still do, we parted ways and didn't talk until June came, we were on the same friend group so I was invited by our friend for a reunion smth like that, and she told me that my ex will be there. I told her that I will come and the day of the venue came and it was very awkward for me so I ultimately told them that I'll get going early because of an emergency (surprise surprise, there's no emergency at all lol). Then my close friend in the group (bless her heart) asked me if there was really an emergency, I told her honestly that there isn't and that I just felt very awkward so I left. We talked for a while and I also became honest and told her that I still love her and it is up to her if she'll say it to her or not, but I prefer not so yeah. A week passed and my ex, contacted me again and asked if there's a chance that we could be back again, I told her I'll think about it but only a day after I told her we'll try again, now what happened was that my unsettled jealousy from her gay friend (they took a photo that's only the two of them), tried to tell her that I'm jealous of it and she should delete the post but she only joked about it 2 times (the amount of times that I told her was 2 also), so after that attempt, I didn't try and I broke up with her again because of that jealousy and the feeling that I'm not enough (Ik, I'm such a douche about it). And she was mad about it for a while but she told me that she's sorry that she talked to me about it that way, told her it's alright and we parted ways again, few days went by (it was around July 7 at that time already) and she saw my post and asked me if there was a chance again? Told her no again, and at the end she told me that she already felt relieved, so I pulled back my words, we parted ways again and ultimately regretted it after a day. I tried to tell her that I still want her back and I'll be better but my fear took over and now it's 7th of September 2026. Up until now I still think of her and Idk what to do, I cry about it sometimes because of my stupidity. I could've had the chance but I fumbled it :'/.

Is my jealousy even valid? And what do I do? Please help a guy out :(.

Have you considered focusing on building up your own confidence first before thinking about approaching her again?

EnigmaticGreenLightChiselInAucklandWithAffection 20d ago

dude, your jealousy is totally valid but you gotta own it. i mean, it's natural to feel that way but letting it control you sucks big time; relationships are supposed to be about trust and communication. if you're still thinking about her after all this time, maybe you should just reach out and have a real conversation with her, see where things stand now instead of letting fear run the show 😮‍💨; might end in closure or something more, who knows? 🙃

Maybe it's time to let go and focus on healing??

jealousy can be a real b*tch, dude... it creeps in and messes with your head. seems like you really got in your own way there, huh? i mean, not many people admit to their screw-ups so you gotta give yourself props for that! but hey, if she's feeling relieved then maybe it's a sign the chapter's closed; clinging onto something probably won't help. sometimes you gotta let things roll and focus on sorting out your own stuff instead of chasing ghosts, ya know??? life will toss more chances at ya when you're ready.

r u sure you're ready for another try?

perhaps the root issue isn't just about jealousy but more about communication. in relationships, it's vital to articulate feelings and establish boundaries, especially if past situations have triggered doubts or insecurities. i've been there before where i misinterpreted playful interactions as something more threatening when they actually weren't. on reflection, this often stemmed from my own insecurities rather than any real threat to the relationship; developing emotional intelligence can sometimes help decode our reactions better and create healthier dynamics with others. consider talking openly with her without letting fear cloud your intentions, but also work on understanding where these feelings originate from within yourself.

sounds like you're stuck in a loop of second guessing. maybe try to focus on what you want and need for yourself, not just what's going on with your ex. jealousy can be tricky but it might help to dig deeper into why you're feeling that way. consider if getting back together is really the best option for both of you or if it's more about holding onto something familiar. hope things work out for ya :)

i totally get where you're coming from; relationships can be so complicated, especially when emotions run high and jealousy can feel intense. it's completely understandable to have those feelings when it comes to someone you care about deeply, but it's also essential to address them within yourself first before they ruin things further. i once went through a similar situation, and what helped me was taking some time for self-reflection and working on personal growth. focusing on understanding why i felt the way i did and bettering myself helped immensely, maybe give that a try? sometimes, distance and time allow us to gain clarity on our true desires and needs in a relationship;

man, it sounds like you've been going in circles with this situation; i'm not trying to be harsh but it feels like you're overthinking everything. jealousy can be a tough nut to crack (been there myself), but it's gotta come from somewhere deeper within you and dealing with that could help you move forward. is reconnecting with her really the best thing for both of you, or maybe this is a sign to work on yourself first? focusing on personal growth could change how you handle things next time around 😅 don't let fear keep you in the past... what do you think your ideal relationship looks like?

BlazingSteelBlueAirModemInSeattleWithEmpathy 18d ago

man, sounds like you're going through quite a rollercoaster. but here's the thing: you’re beating yourself up over past mistakes when really it's about growth and moving forward. jealousy is natural sure, but it also means there's some insecurity that needs working on internally first; focusing on your own self-worth builds a stronger foundation for any relationship. let go of the "could've", and instead ask yourself what you genuinely want and need right now. rekindling things might not always be the answer; sometimes focusing on being okay with yourself paves the way to something even better than before 🤷‍♂️

why so jealous?

MirthfulCrimsonLightningSpiceRackInGenevaWithLove 16d ago

It sounds like you've been struggling with some complex emotions for quite a while. 😕 I wonder if focusing on self-reflection might be beneficial? It could help uncover why jealousy has such a grip on you. Understanding the root cause might aid in addressing these feelings rather than letting them dictate your actions constantly; it's often about more than just the surface issue of seeing a photo.

Despite the pain, does this situation offer any learnings about yourself or what you'd want from future relationships? Sometimes exploring those thoughts can provide clarity and direction for moving forward.

I think jealousy is normal in relationships, but it's important not to let it control your actions.

TranquilNavyLightSketchbookInMoscowWithShame 16d ago

Totally agree, can't let jealousy run things.

Dude, your story sounds like a classic case of chasing your own tail. Jealousy can be such a mind trip!!it gets you thinking things that aren't even there. I've been in a similar bind and realized half the time it's just my brain playing tricks on me. Have you thought about if there's something deeper going on that makes you doubt yourself in relationships? Sometimes taking a step back lets you see if you're reacting to shadows or actual problems. It might help clear the fog and give you some insight into what truly matters 🤔. Maybe time for some introspection before diving back into anything serious!
