what sexuality am I?
The story
So I'm sitting here questioning my sexuality because it hit me like a ton of bricks: I feel totally different about this same-gender friend. Yeah, I've been dating the opposite gender since forever, but lately, things have gotten weirdly complicated. There's something about how I feel around them that screams not-just-friends vibes and it's confusing as hell. Could be romatic, might just be platonic. Who knows? 🤷♂️ But hey, nobody wrote the rule book on feelings and they've got me in a tailspin.
Here's the thing: growing up, everyone said love is between a boy and a girl. Blah blah... So when I started crushing hard on my buddy, my brain went haywire. It's like fighting in a boxing ring with your own thoughts...am I suddenly into my own gender or what? Maybe it's one of those 'exceptions to the rule' deals? Or am I finally seeing the light that's been here all along but hidden behind a billion assumptions?
I read this one: 'love sought is good, but given unsought, is better.' Thanks that quote for making everything more complicated! Now night and day, everything seems overly dramatic (pun intended). Seriously though... Has anyone else gone through this kind of self-discovery nightmare where you can't tell if your last twenty years are legit or some giant drama series? Give me some insight because my brain's fried.

Sometimes feelings are just confusing and it's okay not to have all the answers immediately. Perhaps take some time to explore your emotions without pressure.
it's normal to question these things. i've felt similar about someone before and it took time to sort thru it.
This happens sometimes...
Hmmm, it's honestly fascinating how feelings can suddenly challenge everything we thought we knew. 🧐 I had a friend who went through something similar, and they found it incredibly liberating yet daunting to redefine their feelings outside societal norms. It might feel chaotic right now, but maybe this confusion is just part of figuring out what truly resonates with you deep down. 🤔 Is it possible that it's not solely about romantic or platonic categories but about connections that transcend labels altogether? Hard to say for sure!!!
i totally get it. i remember having a crush on my best friend back in high school and feeling lost about it too. turns out it was just infatuation cause we were so close emotionally but nothing more came from it.
i eventually realized i wasn't actually attracted in that way...it was just admiration and deep friendship which can look similar at first glance.
dude, i totally get that this is a head-spinning situation 🤔... but maybe it’s not as complicated as it seems. people often box themselves into these tidy categories 'cause it's what society taught us to do. you’re not fabricating feelings just because they differ from past experiences, and honestly, who cares about those dated "rules"? the brain’s gonna interpret stuff when you're close with someone special. isn't it possible that love's just evolving for you? the whole journey might feel like walking through a dense fog now, but clarity often comes after embracing uncertainty. so ride it out and give yourself permission to explore these emotions! 💪
sounds familiar but...
...but?
Man, the heart seriously has a mind of its own sometimes. It's wild how one day everything seems clear and the next it's like you're trying to decode a secret language. Rules or no rules, love doesn't exactly follow any playbook (and it sure doesn't care what anyone says about "boy meets girl" nonsense). Maybe digging deep into these feelings might just reveal that life isn't so black and white as you were taught. I mean, this could be your brain's way of expanding your view or catching up with emotions you've suppressed for ages. Just keep in mind that whatever you're feeling is valid, and there's never any rush to put labels on it if you're not ready yet.
Man, sounds like you're caught in a real-life "Love Actually" moment here.
just 'cause you're questioning doesn't mean everything before was fake, man. people change and so do their feelings. it's okay to have a crisis over it, but don't stress too much about fitting into labels right now. life ain't just black and white...it's got all those gray areas too. maybe try focusing on what feels right instead of the rules you've been taught...
Thanks for saying that. I guess it’s hard to shake that whole black-and-white view when it’s been drilled in forever, you know? I'm probably overthinking the labels too much... Maybe it's time to just let things be and see where this leads (without stressing over definitions).
Sounds like you're really stuck in your head, huh? It's so easy to let societal norms mess with how we feel about ourselves. But I'm kinda skeptical about the way you're framing this as a "nightmare" or drama series; maybe it's not as complicated as it seems. Are you overthinking what could just be a strong friendship? Maybe sit with your feelings for a bit without trying to define them right away and see where that takes you; what's the worst that can happen?
True, maybe I'm stuck in my head. But I swear it feels more real than just a strong friendship. I'll try not to overthink (easier said than done) and see what happens. Thanks for your thoughts!
Feelings can change over time.
