Why can't i get over him?
The story
Hey everybody, so like today was one of those days (you know the type where everything feels kinda off) and you're just not really in sync with anything? Well, I was just sittin' around, scrolling through my phone, and came across this old playlist I hadn't thought about in ages! You ever have that happen? Like you totally forgot about something and then BAM it hits you right in the face?!?! Man, it took me back...back to times when things were different...and honestly? It made me start pondering all over again whether I'm actually over him or not...
So check it out: every song on there had this way of weaving itself into the fabric (ha yeah!) of our past moments. It's like each melody became a narration of what went down between us! like some kind of running commentary on a film fulla memories. Totally surreal but also kinda sad too!!! Isn't it weird how music can do that sometimes? Or maybe it's just me???
Anywayz lol as these tracks played on repeat my brain decided to take a trip down memory lane. No lie (I'm being so for real here), a track would come up and suddenly I'd remember random bits and pieces...the good stuff like those late nights chillin', listening to his crazy dreams while we snacked on chips...and even the other stuff too...like those pointless arguments over who forgot to fill up gas🙄. But dude!!! The emotions are STILL HERE!!! And I've been trying (really truly trying) not to keep reminiscin' cuz they say it doesn't help right?!?
But alas fellow venters 😂 this question still haunts me...maybe that's why we're here sharing words huh?? Am I officially stuck comparing everyone else to him forevermore or is moving on actually possible for peeps like moi loll?!?! Cuz honest-to-god truth is life marches forward anyway regardless if ‘we’ve’ moved over our own baggage methinks. Sometimes clarity ain't available when needed most i guess.
Yet hoping hear from y'all (I'll read diligently promise!!) on how ya'll dealt if anyone walked similar paths - did any particular thing make letting go less hard compared with others out there finding closure successfully using nearby options readily visible ehhehe??? Howdy coz tho chances slim answers found fast sooner preferably whenever?!

I can relate to your experience entirely. Listening to certain songs really has the power to bring back memories we'd thought forgotten. Your feelings are completely valid!
I totally get where you're coming from. Music does have a unique way of tugging at heartstrings but maybe try creating fresh playlists so new associations can form.
Nice idea about making new playlists!
Creating fresh playlists sounds like a fun idea! Maybe it would help make some new memories too. Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna give it a try and see if it helps mix things up a bit. 🎶
OMG! completely same here!! back wen i was bummed i herd dat song & bam!!😭
I totally get where you're coming from. Music can have a sneaky way of reeling us back into those past moments, and it sometimes makes sorting through emotions more complicated than necessary. 😅 It's possible that holding onto these memories is just part of the healing process. Maybe take this as a sign to gradually make new playlists with tunes that resonate with who you are now? Could be a cathartic way to slowly replace the old associations with fresh vibes!
Oh wow, that's a cool thought! Fresh playlists sound like a fun project. Gotta admit, it might just work and help shift those vibes around. Time to brainstorm some killer tracks, I guess! 🎵
It's amazing how music can sometimes just reach into the corners of our minds and pull out things we thought were packed away for good! Back in my college days, I stumbled upon an old mixtape (yep, on cassette) from high school while cleaning out my room. Popped it into my old boombox and suddenly, it was like I was back at those awkward dances and late-night hangouts with friends. It's wild how the brain works like that. 😄 But as for moving on: I kinda think it's a journey where you take two steps forward and one step back sometimes. You're not alone in this feeling; plenty of us find ourselves wrestling with past emotions, especially when triggered by something so nostalgic. Just keep your head up! Exploring new experiences slowly helped me, even if some days felt like they moved in slo-mo...
hey, i get it...but trust me time heals much so don't lock yourself onto this playlist eternally cuz life goes forth n ya deserve better.
dude, it's like you’re looking for a needle in a haystack that might not even be there... lol, music digs up all sorts of junk and gets us overthinking. you gotta question if it’s the tunes or just your own mind putting on reruns? 🤔 maybe don't let yourself get sucked into nostalgia too much cuz honestly... living in past moments ain't gonna help ya move to new ones!!! try flipping the script... find some fresh tracks and see where that takes you!
Once heard a familiar tune at Starbucks, instantly recalled high school days.
did you ask urself why tho?
Oh wow, it's so relatable how music can just teleport us back to those times we thought were left behind. I don't know about you, but sometimes I swear it feels like songs have this way of sneakin' up on ya and triggering a whole avalanche of recollections. 😅 You ever try writing down these thoughts when they come up? I mean, it's like giving those feelings a chance to air out might help tame them a little. Also, maybe finding an activity or hobby that totally absorbs you could be really great for shifting your focus. What do you think might help for you? Sometimes the smallest shift in routine unexpectedly makes all the difference!
Oh, totally! It's wild how a simple melody can do that, right? I tried writing stuff down once, but it just turned into this jumble of thoughts and doodles. Maybe I need to give it another shot! And yeah, picking up a hobby sounds solid. Been curious about trying pottery or something chill like that...ever done anything creative like it? 🤔😂
Yeah, remembering isn’t bad per se but surrounding ourselves with only past could stunt growth.
true: balance is key!
Yo, I totally feel this! Happens to me too when an old song blasts me back in time. One time, I found an old playlist from my teenage years while going through my digital stuff and instantly got hit with flashbacks of summer nights sneakin' out with friends, just aimlessly driving around town. It's wild how music can teleport you like that; it's a total mind trip. Do you find it weird too how certain tracks just make all those emotions flood right back in even if you think they're over?! Maybe try mixing some new tunes with a fresh hobby or activity, could mash up your present and past vibes into something cool. 🤔
sometimes breaks help,right?
damn so heres the deal: last year wen someone told ME they wudnt move on from their crush simply cz playlist hijacked their headspace..guess wat? They actually took advices n tried exposing self newer musics instead buuut seriously bruh results sorta varied:
much hafta admit sum melodies brought upside unlike others which improved mood significantly however initially difficult let go like one close pal once mentioned 'its ok cringe occasionally'. Happy see em happier now
