Writing a book
The story
Can I be able to be a good writer if I'm not into reading books too much? I like reading poetry, but sometimes I feel like I don't understand it either. I love reading short stories with big pictures, but long stories? So far, not my style.
But I love writing poetry tho and I do merely as a hobbie not like a job or something. But what if one day I wanna publish something just to earn a little bit of money?

dude, if you’re not into reading books, becoming a "good writer" might be a big stretch??? writing and reading kinda go hand in hand, ya know? short stories with big pics? really?? that's like saying you wanna be a chef but can't be bothered to taste food 😂
yeah, poetry is cool, but if you don’t even get what you’re reading half the time, how are you gonna write anything worth publishing????? it’s like trying to run before you can walk. maybe start with understanding the poetry you like. and writing as a hobby is chill, but making it a money thing? that’s a whole other ballgame.
and tbh, publishing just for cash is probs gonna lead to disappointment. writing ain't exactly a goldmine unless you're the next J.K. Rowling. focus on enjoying the process and maybe consider reading more to actually improve your craft. my cousin tried the “earn cash from writing” gig and ended up with a bunch of rejection emails... just my 2 cents.
I'm being too hard on myself, I understand what I read
honestly, you're spot on. you don't need to read a ton to be a writer; that's such a myth. lotsa people just parrot the whole "read more" mantra but not all writers are bookworms. sometimes they just got something to say;
writing poetry for fun is cool. it keeps ya creative and not bogged down by pressure. publishing to make money, though? not so easy. when my friend tried that, it didn't work out well. keep doing what you enjoy and see where it leads. maybe it'll pay off, maybe not. who cares? keep at it if you love it.
hey, I get it, but gotta say, if you ain't into reading, becoming a great writer could be kinda tricky??? writers often draw inspiration from what they read!!! reading different styles broadens your mind, you know?
i mean, loving poetry is awesome, but maybe give some longer stories a shot? you might surprise yourself!!! and writing as a hobby's totally cool, but be realistic about making money from it. staying passionate and open-minded might lead to something awesome down the road. keep at it and see where it goes; you never know!!!!!
honestly, thinking you can be a proficient writer without delving into books seems a bit naive; literature is the cornerstone of writing skill development. my own journey into writing improved drastically when I started reading more diverse genres.
embracing poetry is great, but it’s not a complete substitute for narrative exposure. if long stories aren’t your style, try engaging with different formats or themes to broaden your palette. writing solely as a hobby is fine, but envisioning it as a lucrative venture without refining your skills could be setting yourself up for disappointment 🤔
