am i real?
The story
yo, ever look in the mirror and think, 'who tf is that?' it’s weird, right? like ur staring at this face but ur brain’s all like... nah fam, that ain’t me. everyones walking around acting like they got all their shit together while here i am wondering if I'm even real? i mean what does it even mean to be real??? maybe its just a midlife crisis or some bs existential dread idk. feels like im just going through the motions, you know? seeing people look so confident and sure about life while my reflection just mocks me. 🙄🙄 am i alone in feeling disconnected from myself or are we all just faking it???? hell, maybe it's normal.... whatever normal means these days. been thinking too much about this crap and my brain's fried now. cheers to another day of questioning reality (yay for us!).

Man, I'm not sure if everyone acts like they have their shit together or if they're just putting on a show... bluffing their way through life, you know? Maybe everyone's just winging it and hoping nobody notices. Staring at that mirror feels like staring at an impostor sometimes. It's like this whole 'finding yourself' thing is the biggest con, because who the hell even knows who they are anymore??? We're thrown into this world without instructions and told to figure it all out! If feeling disconnected was rare, there wouldn't be so many damn self-help books littering bookstore shelves. Hang in there!
Happens to me too xD
Bro, you ever think maybe you're just overthinking it??? 🤔 Sure, everyone has those moments where they’re like, "who dis?" when looking in the mirror. But honestly, being all existential and crap ain't gonna solve anything. Maybe try focusing on stuff that actually makes you feel alive instead of getting lost in your head about what's real or not! Life's too short to be stuck in a reality crisis loop all day. Just vibe with it!
i dunno man... sometimes u just gotta roll with it ya know 😀 there are days i'm totally outta touch but then other times not so much.
That's a good point! We do have our ups and downs.
Man, you're definitely not alone in feeling like that. It's wild how you can just be standing there and suddenly question everything about yourself and reality. People keep putting up these perfect fronts, but I'm convinced half of them are faking it just as much as the rest of us. Sometimes I think life is like a movie we're all acting in without a script or direction. Maybe overthinking is part of being human, and that disconnect between who we are and who we think we should be drives the doubt. Hang in there; we're all just trying to figure this out one confused day at a time!
Once, I was at a professional conference and everyone seemed so sure of themselves, presenting with confidence, using all the industry jargon like they were born doing it. But later I overheard some folks talking about their fears of messing up and questioning their own knowledge; reminded me that appearances aren't reality. It's almost like we all wear these masks just to get by in our careers while internally grappling with self-doubt. So perhaps this feeling of disconnection is an unspoken commonality many share... even those who seem to have everything figured out.
dude, it's like we all live in some sort of perpetual state of imposter syndrome, questioning if we're ever truly living as ourselves or just adapting to fit into societal roles; maybe it's more about acceptance than discovering the "real" you because society's constantly changing so what’s considered normal anyway?
I totally get what you mean!!! It's like some days, I look in the mirror and expect to see someone else staring back. Ever watched one of those sci-fi movies where the protagonist questions their reality?? That's how it feels sometimes... disorienting as hell!! I remember reading somewhere that our perception of ourselves is way different than others see us... maybe that's part of the confusion?? But yeah, I often wonder if everyone's just putting on a brave face while quietly losing it inside too. Keep questioning though: sometimes that’s how we find pieces of answers even if they don’t make total sense yet.
well, isn't that the million-dollar question? who knew staring in a mirror would turn into an existential crisis. it's like we're all players in some bizarre social experiment where everyone else got the rulebook but us. maybe it's just a phase and we'll wake up one day feeling enlightened; or maybe this is just part of being human (fun times right?). either way, at least we can laugh about the absurdity of it all 🤔.
I once felt something similar when I was younger, thought I'd snap out of it eventually and somehow did. It may pass with time.
Man, I hear you on this! Sometimes it feels like life is just one big guessing game and we’re all trying to play along without the rules. Maybe that’s just part of being human?? It’s not easy but hey, cut yourself some slack! We don’t need to have all the answers right now... maybe embracing the uncertainty could be kinda freeing? Like, let go a bit and see what happens. Cheers to another day of figuring shit out in our own messy way! 🤷♂️
honestly not everyone is as sure of themselves as they act dude 😜 maybe try some grounding exercises might help ur thoughts.
u get used to it but dont let drive u crazy
you know, i’ve often wondered if our sense of self just evolves as we grow and experience new things; maybe the person in the mirror changes because we're constantly learning and adapting. perhaps instead of seeing it as a negative thing, it's like shedding old skin to make way for something new. sometimes i try reminding myself that feeling lost might just be part of evolving... hope this brings some comfort!
yeah, i guess that's a nicer spin on it 😂... maybe all this confusion means i'm growing? it's just frustrating to feel like i'm stuck in my own damn head. i'll try to think of it as evolving next time the mirror mocks me. thanks for sharing!
Your musings remind me of a time in college when I was knee-deep in philosophy books, and trust me, those can really make you question your identity....
realness hmm?
Absolutely agree! I've had those moments too when everything seemed off.
