The story

ever find yourself in the middle of a heated exchange, just trying to assert your standpoint, and suddenly you feel that all-too-familiar sting in your eyes? it's infuriating!!i mean, who tears up when they're angry? apparently, i do. every single time i’m over there trying to articulate my well-constructed arguments to my colleagues, ready to take a stand against their relentless storm of inaccuracies and flawed assumptions, yet there it goes: my body's own waterworks department decides to kickstart its operation.

tearing up during such strategic moments is not only unprofessional but downright embarrassing. one would think expressing pure anger and frustration would involve some vehement fist-clenching or perhaps slamming an emphatic palm on the boardroom table...not succumbing to inexplicable teardrops cascading over one's cheeks. how am i supposed to maintain any semblance of authority or conviction when i'm reduced to a tear-streaked mess during every assertive monologue?

perhaps these lachrymal surprises are nature's way of undermining my attempts at maintaining composure under pressure. maybe it's some deeply embedded mechanism determined to neutralize conflict by converting it into visible emotional vulnerability instead. whatever it is, this undesirable reaction leaves me feeling exposed and detached from my professional persona. while everyone else competently wields logic as their sword in intellectual skirmishes with a well-crafted argument or two, here i am: betrayed by my own tear ducts amidst verbal warfare 😒
