Is it normal to have doubts in a relationship?

The story

so the other day, I was cleaning up our shared space and stumbled upon this note hidden in one of my partner's drawers. it really threw me off. finding something unexpected like that is unsettling, especially when it touches on the future, which is a pretty big deal. the note wasn’t alarming, but it definitely hinted they have some doubts about where our relationship is heading.

I felt this rush of emotions...curiosity mixed with a good dose of anxiety. like, have we not talked enough about our feelings? or are these doubts more serious than I want to admit? I keep thinking about how Aristotle said knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. maybe that applies to knowing your relationship too.

relationships are complicated, right? they require both people to communicate openly to create a space where honesty thrives. but is there an expectation that we should always be completely sure about our future together? I realize I have my own biases. I really believe in talking things out, but I wonder if confrontation is really necessary all the time.

even now, I’m trying to stay level-headed instead of jumping to conclusions. every couple goes through these questioning phases, right? I want to figure out if this is just a common bump in the road or something we need to deal with more seriously.

I still hold onto some optimism. I remember R.W. Emerson said the only way to have a friend is to be one. that means being aware of each other's changing feelings and seeing these doubts as chances to grow closer instead of letting them push us apart. I just hope we can tackle this together and come out stronger.

Finding that note might have been a shock, but honestly, everyone's got doubts sometimes. Nobody is 100% certain about their future, not even the relationship gurus or whatever. 🤷‍♂️ If you really want to get some clarity on this situation, maybe just bring it up casually and see what they say. You don't have to confront them like you're in a court trial; just keep it chill. Remember, communication isn't always about big talks. It's the small checks along the way that keep things real.
