lonely in a relationship
The story
so here's the deal: i'm in this so-called 'committed' relationship, right? and i'm feeling kinda alone even when we've got each other nearby. like we literally sit on the same couch binge-watching some dumb series but there's this massive gap between us. i mean what's up with that???? 😕 i've tried to talk about it too many times, wanting things to change or at least have a decent conversation. but guess what??? it's like talking to a brick wall! he nods yeah uh-huh but nothing really happens next... frustrating much???? 😑
anyway, why's it gotta be like this!!! feelin' isolated in your own house when your partner's supposed to be your person...the one you're vibing with!!! it ain't cool. sometimes i wonder if he even gets how lonely it feels. i mean doesn't help that when i bring it up he's either tuned out or just dismisses it totally. like hello!!!!! i'm trying to share my feelings here ???? 🙄
isn't communication suppose to be key or something!!!?? well not much luck in unlocking anything around here except more annoyance!!! i try being clear okay and maybe i'm not the perfect communicator myself but come on i've made efforts...and it's frustrating if you know what i mean ? can't be bothered no more. there’s only so many times you can bang your head against a wall without getting tired of the headache already.
so yeh here i am venting online cause real life convos are stalled ???? sometimes u just need to get stuff out ya know? hoping for advice or shared experiences (not pity puh-lease!) anyone else felt like ur actually single while being very much taken ??? don't wanna give ultimatums but wondering how long b4 it's time we had another chat wit arrows instead of cushions 🙄

i get where you're coming from, honestly some people just aren't good at communicating feelings, and they leave us frustrated cause of that. it's tough when you're putting all this effort in tryna make it work, n you feel ignored, been there before n feeling stuck is the worst!! keep trying tho, maybe a different approach might open him up?
yeah, i think you're right. maybe another approach might help (who knows at this point🤷♂️). it's hard not to feel stuck when nothing changes but i guess i'll try again... thanks for the advice!
sounds tough! i've been there too. back in college, i had a similar experience with my then-boyfriend. we'd watch movies together but he was more into his phone than anything else. eventually, i made us set aside "tech-free" nights to just focus on each other. it helped a bit, though wasn't the magic fix for everything. maybe trying something different might shake things up? even small changes can sometimes break the routine and get conversations flowing a bit better 🙂 hoping you find some way to bridge that gap!
omgg same happend me once..., bf was always there bt never really THERE ya kno?! changed whn i started doing mre fun things wth him.
'fun things' like what exactly?
Honestly, it kinda sounds like he's just not engaging with you on the level you need;; it's gotta be really tough feeling that gap when you're right next to each other.
I've definitely felt alone even while next to my partner. It took us going out on spontaneous dates again to reconnect. Maybe try switching up routines a bit?
"spontaneous dates" hmmm that's def something i'll consider trying thanks for sharing!
Wow, that's really a tough spot to be in. It’s wild how you can be physically close but emotionally miles apart; ever thought about taking a step back and really shaking things up? Just hanging out doing the same old routines probably ain't gonna switch up that dynamic. I'm thinking... maybe you both need to find new ways of connecting?? maybe something outside the usual couch zone?? Why does he even bother nodding if it's clear he's not interested, like come on??? How much effort are they even putting into any of this? What do you think it would take for him to actually hear what you're saying and act on it, rather than just give those empty nods? Hopefully, you guys can have a real convo soon before the gap gets even wider...
Oh man, that's a tough spot to be in 😕. Relationships are supposed to feel like you're on the same team, right??? Maybe it’s time to shake things up some more; ever thought about doing something unexpected that might catch him off guard and pull his attention? Sometimes breaking routine can work wonders for communication! Just a thought, hope it gets better soon 🙂.
yeah i hear ya! probably time to try something different... breaking the routine sounds good! maybe planning a surprise date or something could make him snap out of autopilot? worth a shot i guess... thanks for the idea 🙂.
it sounds super frustrating when you're trying to talk and just not getting anywhere ?? can't help but wonder if he's not even aware of how bad things feel for you ??? sometimes ppl really don't get it till you're right on their face saying this is serious 😕 maybe plan a time where it's only about this convo nothing else competing for attention ??? i dunno, but drowning in silence together ain't fun... hope ya find a way through 🙌
maybe it's time to flip the script.
flip the script, huh? 🤔 interesting thought. but ain't real sure how to flip when one side ain't buying what you're selling! kinda feels like i'd be playing ping-pong solo: always hitting, never returning...
I remember having similar issues with my ex-partner too. He'd always claim his mind was elsewhere (work stress or whatever) but it really hurt our connection over time! So sometimes i'd try go for deeper conversations at random times like when driving together or while cooking dinner and suddenly he'd open up more.
This might sound harsh, but maybe consider that your partner just isn't willing to put in the effort. Throwing your feelings repeatedly into a void can be draining and unproductive. You've already tried talking and he clearly tunes out, so it's on him to step up too. Why waste more energy on someone who can't even be bothered to understand how you're feeling? Honestly, if he's not interested in changing anything (simple as turning off the TV for ten minutes), what are you really getting from this relationship? Sometimes making tough decisions is better than endlessly hoping for someone else to change.
i do think relationships go through rough waters but isn't there something worth salvaging before ditching ship altogether ??? reconsider having an honest convo yet again....maybe express differently idk 🙂
i've been thinking... does he also express feeling distant or is this mostly from your side?? understanding both ends could bring in better insight 😶 feels weird asking here however it's important for clarity.
"does he express feeling distant..." interesting point i'll have a chat ask directly because who knows!
talk again already :)
