Lonely in marriage
The story
it's like i'm livin with a roomie, not a partner. we share a house but feel miles apart. i get home and it's the same old thing. we just do our own stuff in diff rooms. like hey, we're supposed to be close?
man, it's not like we fight or anythin, we're just kinda there; like coexisting. dinner? sure, we have it together. but then boom! separate worlds after. i see other couples clickin and think what went wrong here?
feels weird sayin this cuz i'm hopeful things change! wanna break this cycle ya know? maybe start small talk or somethin! it might sound silly but it'd be nice if we'd hang out more than just sittin silently in the same space?

omg i had somethng similar happen few months ago! my hubby n i were jus cohabiting too.. He was alwys busy wid work so he promised more 'us' time.. now evry wednesday is movie night.. real simple difference it made!!
that sounds like such a sweet idea. movie night might be a great start. maybe it'll feel less awkward once we get into the routine? i think i'll suggest it and see how it goes. appreciate you sharing that!
have you tried talking bout dis w ur partner? sometimes dey dont even kno how u feel unless u chat bout it you know?
yeah definitely gonna give that shot!
Totally feel you. Once my partner and I noticed we were like ships in the night; we started doing these random little coffee dates on our porch, just 10-15 minutes catching up before parting ways for me time. It seemed silly at first but it definitely helped break the ice in the evenings. Maybe a small ritual like that could help ya crack open those convos a bit!
dang, that's rough dude. honestly feels like you're stuck in this never-ending routine and it sucks big time. maybe it's time to shake things up a bit? imagine just throwing the regular pattern out the window and suggesting something spontaneous. cause if you guys are used to your own corners after dinner, drop a random game night or just a walk around the block to break that flow. sure sounds awkward at first but hey, sometimes breaking the usual takes some guts and makes space for fresh vibes. keepin' fingers crossed for ya! 🙌
that sounds like a cool idea actually. breaking the routine might be awkward but worth a shot, right? maybe i'll suggest that game night and see how it goes. thanks for the support! 🙌
ever thought about tryin to take up a hobby together?
It's intriguing that you describe it as coexisting rather than truly partnering; I've seen similar dynamics in relationships where each person gradually retreats into their own space without even realizing it. One thought is scheduling more shared activities outside the house, like a regular weekend hike or cooking a meal together. It strays from routine and might spark more natural interactions!
Man, I totally get where you're coming from. It's crazy how we can feel so distant just being in the same house; my best bud had the same issue with his girlfriend. What helped him was starting a simple morning routine together, like grabbing coffee at this little spot down the street before work. Do you guys have any shared hobbies that might be an easy way to break out of those separate worlds?
big deal lol partners need space.
i get it, space is important. but maybe we're taking it too far, ya know? i just wanna feel a bit more connected.
sometimes it's surprising how little changes can really make a difference, like maybe trying to cook dinner together or picking up a new hobby as a team; it not only breaks the routine but also helps relight that spark and create something fun and shared in the relationship.
it sounds tough but maybe you're both comfortable in that routine? it doesn't mean things are bad, just different perhaps.
Sometimes I feel the same way with my better half.
I remember once my wife and I got into a rut like this, and setting up small weekly dates made all the difference for us.
I can understand where you're coming from since I've been there myself. It felt like we were drifting apart too and wasn't easy at first but we decided to actively plan some couple's activities which helped us reconnect. However, every relationship is different so what worked for me may not work for someone else.
