they called me Blacksheep of the Fam
The story
hi! just wanna share you this since i couldn't take it anymore. I'm a woman, 20 yrs old. Honestly, ever since childhood I've been obeying my parents, I ALWAYS OBEY, i'm clever and stubborn lol (what can i say 'bout a 10 yrs old kid). ever since, my parents call me their only hope, their daughter that will take care of everything. and honestly, i'm pressured not to mention the fact that they've been limiting my freedom. i can't go out with friends at night, i can't JUST go anywhere in picnics especially with my friends even if they are girls. whenever i go i need to tell them, who am i with etc. my mother knows i have a boyfriend but my father doesn't. i keep hidden because they hate me having a boyfriend. when i got to college, i started going out a lot, experiencing life, learning things. and THEY HATE IT, they only want me to stuck my head in school, not going anywhere or even do anything. I've had enough so i started doing it a lot more often. ever since then, they got disappointed at me, keep comparing me to my half sister, slapped me too by the way, threaten me to stop going to school, cut off my allowance twice, and even had the wrong idea about me and my boyfriend (my half sis). yknow what frustrated me the most? i actually swear and cursed at her knowing i was not like that. My sister took a screenshot on me and bf's messenger conversation and sent it to my OLDER SIS, (it was my freaking privacy why the hell would they do that). they read how i chat to my man especially when i told him we'll go this house. they were so mad lol. we did'nt even do anything that time. what irritated me the most is that both my half sis and my old sis (not my real sister btw), started hating and calling me out, because of the screenshot convo. they even told me i'm a disgusting woman. and that pains me the most. like why? how could they do that both?. it would be honest if they just scolded me or opened this up to me DIRECTLY but they did not, they were talking about me on their conversation online. and i was reading since i opened my older sister's account. ever since then i started distancing myself to them. i hate them for what they did. i always gets left out whenever they're having a bonding. ever since that happened, i started lying more, i wanted to rebel, i always go out more, doing things they hate me to do, not following THEIR RULES, and started not giving a fck to them. and i was the happiest . they called me the black sheep one, the careless daughter, stupid, SELFISH that thinks only her self. it quite hurts honestly but what can i say?... i'm just really drained i don't know what to do anymore. the family that supposed to support me just drains me a lot. don't get me wrong, i love them even after that but..it's just killing me...

Wow, that's seriously intense. But real talk, your family sounds like they're pushing way too hard with all those restrictions; it's suffocating. I mean, you're 20! You should be able to live your life and make your own choices without feeling like a prisoner. It's not right that they invade your privacy or compare you to others either. My cousin went through something similar and it drove him nuts until he finally moved out... Maybe consider setting some boundaries for yourself? 👐
Wow, what a situation you're in! Sounds like you're caught in a bind between being their "only hope" and just wanting to live your own life. Family dynamics can be incredibly draining when expectations are stacked against personal freedom; it's almost as if they want you to excel but only on their terms, which seems a bit contradictory, don't you think??? It must feel isolating to have family members invade your privacy and break trust over something so deeply personal. How do you cope with the emotional toll of them labeling you as selfish despite all you've tried to do for them?
ik how ya feelin but u mite be exaggeratin... maybe try talkin to them a lil more idk
that's true, communication might change things!
it sounds like you're really caught between wanting to explore your independence and the expectations your family has placed on you, particularly how they seem to view control as a form of care.
yo, that's a tough ride you're on... reminds me of the time when my folks found out about this girl I was seeing and totally flipped coz they didn't approve. they went through my texts and like grilled me over every line!!! it's nuts how family can make you feel like you gotta sneak around just to live your own life. honestly, i think being able to set some ground rules might help ease the tension a bit. it sucks when they're meant to have your back but end up bringing you down instead.
dang, that's a rough situation to be in. it sounds like your family's expectations are so overwhelming, and it's tough when they don't see things from your point of view. this whole issue with privacy invasion, like sharing your messages without permission, is not cool at all. honestly reminds me of when my friend went through something similar... her family just couldn't accept her growing up and doing her own thing either. do you think there's any way you could have a heart-to-heart with them? maybe finding a middle ground where they hear you out without feeling attacked could help break the cycle? 🤔
dealing with family expectations can be seriously overwhelming, especially when it feels like they don't see your perspective at all. it's infuriating how they hold you to these impossible standards and seem to control every facet of your life as if you're perpetually stuck being ten years old. i really can't stand how they invaded your privacy (using that messenger screenshot was so unacceptable) then turned around and made you out to be the villain; what a weird way for them to show they "care"!!! maybe channeling your energy into something positive could help manage the frustration they're causing. keeping some distance sounds wise, but remember not to let their negativity define you.
i understand that it feels suffocating when parents put all their expectations on you. however, maybe they're worried because they care about you or really want the best for you. i know it's hard but have you tried sitting down with them and discussing your feelings? it could lead to a better understanding from both sides.
yo, that sounds like an absolutely exhausting situation. it's like they want you to be their perfect little puppet, but you're just trying to live your life and have some fun. good on you for standing up for yourself and doing what makes you happy, even if it means going against the grain a bit. i can't believe they went through your messages though... that's such a breach of trust. sounds real frustrating dealing with all those mixed signals from family too... do you think there’s any chance of sitting down and finding some middle ground with them?
I know you're frustrated, but perhaps seeing things from their perspective could help. Communication is key, and avoiding them only makes it harder.
yeah, facing it together could work wonders!
It seems like there's a lot of miscommunication between you and your family. I wonder if there's some resolution possible or if this distance will just grow over time.
sounds kinda extreme tbh
i get it but maybe try talking?
Man, that's one seriously messed up situation. Honestly sounds like your family's got some major boundary issues going on there!🙄 Going through your convos and then blowing it all outta proportion is so not okay. I can't imagine how draining it must be to constantly having to watch your back in what’s supposed to be a loving environment... reminds me of when my parents freaked out about every little thing when I was trying to figure life out. Maybe it's time to just take a step back from all the drama for a bit and focus on what makes you happy; setting clear boundaries might help, even though it's easier said than done with family always breathing down your neck.
things sound messy in your family situation. being called those names must hurt, but sometimes parents do harsh things thinking it's for our good. not saying it's right though.
You might consider having an honest talk with them.
do you think talking would help?
