how to forgive yourself for something unforgivable?
The story
Why did I have to open my big mouth? 🤦♀️ Seriously, I'm the worst. There's this major drama storming in my social circle right now and it's basically ALL MY FAULT. 😩 I accidentally blurted out a close friend's deep, dark secret during a heated argument! Like, can you imagine anything worse??? And, of course, now everyone knows.....and gahhhh 😫....everyone's all mad and upset.
I swear it was one of those moments where my brain disconnected from my mouth. You know what I mean? One second we're arguing over something (I can't even remember what), and the next, I'm saying the literal WORST thing I possibly could. It's not just hurting my friend but people are picking sides as if this is some kind of reality TV show 🙄. It's turned into this massive rift!!!
The guilt is seriously eating me alive....and I know everyone's still talking about it behind my back too 🤬... I didn't want things to turn out like this! I've apologized like a million times already to everyone involved!!! Is there any way outta this mess????? I feel like I'm about to lose ALL my friends forever!!! 😟
I'm stuck between trying to do damage control or just disappearing into the background hoping they’ll forget?? Does that ever even work though?! Both options sound terrible tbh... Like part of me wishes someone would step in and just mediate this whole fiasco while I hide away and wait for it all to blow over.
I dunno... Trying so hard here not to let self-blame define me. Mistakes happen, right? But how do you forgive yourself when you've messed up BIG TIME?? Any advice on surviving the aftermath would be awesome!! 🤷♀️
