I don't care about anyone
The story
recently, i've been in this weird place where i feel detached from everything around me. i'm the person people always used to rely on for support, but now it seems like whenever my closest friends share their struggles with me, it just doesn't hit the same way anymore. it's as if their words are passing through me without leaving any mark. i care about them (i really do), but something's changed and i'm trying to figure out what.
honestly, it's kind of bothering me that i can't connect like i used to. before, i'd be the go-to friend when someone was struggling or needed advice. now, when they talk to me about their issues, i find myself giving automated responses without truly feeling involved in the conversation; maybe it's because i've started feeling numb to a lot of things lately.
i guess everyone reaches a point where they need to recharge emotionally or something like that. i've taken time off work and tried focusing on myself more (like doing stuff i enjoy). still, that hasn't quite brought back the sensitivity that i used to have toward others' problems. there’s this wall between us that wasn’t there before.
it's strange because all my life i've been empathetic and pretty good at understanding feelings of others around me. now it's different (even if my friend tells me something deep and personal) i catch myself nodding along but not feeling moved by it.
don't get me wrong: there's no desire in me to isolate or shut people out (not at all). just looking for ways right now to figure how can regain some balance here without turning into a therapist for myself too! any advice would be welcome.
