can stress cause fever?

The story

I just got back from what was supposed to be a chill week-long trip, but instead of coming back refreshed, I'm freaking out. I've got this work deadline looming over me and it's eating at me harder than I thought possible. Ever since I returned, my stress levels have been through the roof and now I'm running a slight fever; pretty sure the two are connected.

Is it even possible for stress to lead to a fever? It's messing with my head because part of me thinks it's just nerves but then again, why else would I feel this way? Going to a doctor seems like overkill if all that's wrong is that I'm stressed out. But now I'm stuck in this loop: stress makes me sick, being sick stresses me more. Talk about frustrating.

At first, I brushed it off as jet lag but then these cold chills started hitting me and here we are. The last thing I want right now is to waste time at some clinic only for them to tell me it's in my head or something stupid like that. I've heard people say stress takes a physical toll but fever level? That's wild.

Honestly don't know if I should push myself harder or take a break; no idea what will make this better without screwing up deadlines or losing it completely because this fever's really throwing everything off balance. If you've ever dealt with similar crap, you know how much it sucks.

I've always heard that stress can mess with your body, so maybe it could cause a mild fever too; not totally sure though.
