Can't sleep without alcohol

The story

Man, I can't even remember the last time I hit the sack without having some booze swimmin' through my veins. It's been about three months now since I landed this new gig that's got me stressed out more than a stray cat in a thunderstorm. Initially, it was just a glass of wine to wind down after those brain-melting days. But before I knew it, that one innocent drink multiplied into a couple of shots of whiskey just to get those aching few hours of shut-eye.

And yeah, I'm fully aware that this ain't really stellar for my health or future sanity. It's like walking on thin ice every night: having to rely on something so heavily just to catch forty winks; makes no sense when you sit and marinate on it for too long. And yet here we are! My mind's like a washing machine set permanently on spin cycle mode... racing with 'What ifs' and 'If onlys'. Makes sleeping seem like you'd have better luck trying to herd cats!

I swear, all those counting sheep techniques and guided meditation apps are struggling hard not getting the job done at all. The moment I lie down, it's like an obnoxiously loud carnival inside my head and bam... the only thing my skeptical self can lean on is what's in the liquor cabinet... It feels kinda crazy trying desperately to balance everything from work deadlines that never end right up till personal demands that show up uninvited almost daily (what's even breathing?!).

It's gotten so bad that there’s this internal battle about breaking free versus maintaining this precarious routine where ones tells me sobriety equals sleepless nights while others yell dependency will claim its price someday soon! Like how do you cope when you're trapped between needing sleep badly but knowing alcohol ain't really offering divine solutions? Open invitation here for suggestions (any at all) that won't entirely drain what's left of my circadian soul.
