The story

whenever i think about personal growth, like real change, it's something that often feels just out of reach for me. recently, a chance encounter with an old acquaintance left me questioning where I'm at right now. this person had really redefined themselves: like leveled up in so many ways and it was clear they werent the same person i knew before. initially i felt happy for them but the conversation quickly flipped a switch inside my head instead of a motivational boost; what tapped into my thoughts was more doubt toward my own progress.

it's like every self-improvement book mentions the success stories of others to inspire you yet here I am wondering if those narratives will ever belong to me 🤔. not gonna lie, seeing their transformation put the spotlight on things i've neglected in myself while they've tackled areas i sometimes fear exploring. as they talked about overcoming past hurdles, investing in self-care, and embracing challenges it made swirling feelings erupt: envy sneaked its way in there while motivation tried to keep its footing. granted there's something motivating hearing someone's 'i did it' moment but alternately being exposed by comparison stirred those familiar insecurities back to bay.
