how to stop interrupting people?

The story

soooo apparently i interrupt people without even realizing it. got this feedback from a colleague during a meeting last week and let me tell you, it felt like a slap on the wrist 😅 i mean, i genuinely value what others have to say! it's not like i'm trying to dominate every conversation... but now i've become super self-conscious about it.

it's like walking on eggshells. is anyone else hyper-aware when they speak or is it just me? especially in work settings where bombarding someone with opinions isn't protocol (duh). listening actively is suddenly feeling more like trying to defuse a verbal bomb;

then there's the personal side of things. certain friends seem less chatty these days and now i'm paranoid it's because of my conversational habits. maybe i've bulldozed through our exchanges more than i thought 🤔 hope it's fixable, friendships shouldn't feel so transactional...

i wanna learn how to pause more effectively between ideas and not jump in too early but for some reason that pause feels longer than the wait for new game releases 🎮 any strategies? constructive suggestions? hoping there's light at the end of this discussion tunnel!

The only people I've ever interacted with who have this issue also have ADHD - so that could be something to look into. Another great option is open communication - ask your friends if you bulldoze. If/when they say no, tell them it's okay if you don't and you're genuinely looking to understand and improve. See where the conversation goes. Maybe it's all in your head. And finally, for stopping interrupting, it can help more to focus on listening than on speaking. When someone says something and it gives you a thought, set the thought aside. Listen. Try to fully understand what theyre saying instead of waiting to respond. Absorb and understand their FULL thought before worrying about trying to express yours
