I feel unlovable
The story
I've recently relocated to a new city and it's been quite the experience. Trying out different social activities, you'd think it'd be easy to make some friends, right? But for me, forming meaningful connections feels like an uphill battle. I see others around me bonding effortlessly while I just... don't fit in! This persistent sense of isolation makes me feel as if I'm inherently unlovable. Maybe there's something wrong with me. 😞 I've tried clubs, meetups, even those online apps people swear by. Nothing works!!! Do I have some sign on my forehead that says 'stay away?' 🤔 It's disheartening.Maybe I'm just not meant to click with others like everyone else does; It’s hard not letting this negatively impact my self-esteem when every attempt at socializing seems like another failed mission. People chat casually all around me, yet when it's my turn... silence or awkwardness follows. What's it gonna take to finally find my tribe in this bustling city?! Am I destined to be surrounded by people but still feel utterly alone?! 😟 Everyone assures me that it'll get better over time but how much more time is needed? How long do you wait before accepting you're simply unlovable?

I felt tht way too once! then I found love... :-)
Did anything specific help you get past it? It's so frustrating when everyone else seems to be clicking naturally! I remember trying a trivia night once. Thought I'd make friends with other quiz enthusiasts, but ended up sitting at the bar alone... again.
i've kind of been there too. moved cities twice and always had trouble at first? maybe try joining a specific hobby group?
Have you considered that maybe your expectations might be setting the bar unrealistically high? In the realm of social dynamics, it's often more about quality than quantity; sometimes, we can't force connections. It's not necessarily a reflection of being "unlovable"; perhaps you're just in a transitional phase where finding the right people is taking longer than anticipated.
Dude, I totally get where you're coming from. Moving to a new city can be really tough and it's like you're thrown into this social minefield. Been there myself and it sucks! 🥴 People act like making friends is as easy as saying "hi" but that's just not everybody's reality. Don't beat yourself up because sometimes these things take longer than expected... Everyone's timeline is different. Maybe try focusing on activities you genuinely love instead of solely for meeting people? It's a slow process but hanging in there might just lead you to those genuine connections eventually. Just remember: there's nothing inherently wrong with you. You're navigating through some challenging terrain, alright? Keep pushing forward! 💪
Man, I totally get where you're coming from. When I first moved to a new place, it felt like everyone was speaking a different language or something. Socializing can be so weirdly unpredictable! I once went to a neighborhood BBQ thinking it'd be all chill vibes and easy banter... ended up standing by the chip bowl most of the time feeling out of place. It's super frustrating when you're putting yourself out there and not getting much back; It might help to just focus on one genuine connection at a time rather than trying to fit in with groups immediately. Sometimes it takes just one person you click with to make everything feel less daunting!
That makes sense... maybe I am trying too hard to fit in with groups right away. It just feels like there's this pressure to click immediately. Guess I'll try focusing on one-on-one connections and see how that goes. Thanks for the suggestion!
I understand your frustration deeply because I've gone through a similar experience myself. Moving to a new city can be incredibly daunting; however, it might help to ask yourself what kind of connections you are aiming for. Are you looking for deeper friendships, or perhaps casual acquaintances will suffice for now? Sometimes expectations play a significant role in shaping our view of these situations.
You're right. Maybe I'm expecting too much, looking for deep connections right away. I guess starting with casual acquaintances could help, even if it feels daunting. It just gets overwhelming when nothing seems to click... but I suppose it's a start.
man, that sucks! moving can be so overwhelming on its own and then adding the pressure of making new connections is just... tough. you're out there putting yourself in new situations, which takes guts! it's easy to feel like everyone else has it figured out but trust me, a lot of folks are faking it till they make it too. keep trying different stuff and you might stumble upon something that clicks unexpectedly. sometimes friendships come from the least likely places. hang in there! 🤞
Totally get it! I moved last year and felt the same.
It's interesting how social dynamics can feel like an unsolvable puzzle sometimes; you're certainly not alone in feeling this way! Consider the possibility that you may be gravitating towards people whose interests or values don't align with yours. Have you tried engaging with communities centered around niche activities or unique hobbies, outside the typical club or app environment? Sometimes, it takes exploring unconventional paths to find those connections everyone talks about. Keep being open and genuine because your tribe is out there waiting; be patient with yourself as you explore this new city and its potential friendships 🙂
socializing can definitely feel like an uphill battle sometimes, especially when it seems like everyone else is just smoothly making connections. have you thought about maybe volunteering somewhere? i know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but sometimes working on a common mission with people can encourage bonds to form organically. plus, it takes the pressure off "small talk" because you're focused on the task at hand. 🤷♂️ might be worth a try? and hey, remember that feeling lonely isn't a reflection of your likability... finding your tribe can take some time!
You're worrying too much about this. Relax and let things happen naturally; stressing only pushes people away.
felt the same when i moved back home from college two years ago. i joined a local book club after seeing a flyer at the grocery store; met some really cool people who made adjusting easier.
sometimes bonds take time and effort dn't they? maybe you're closer than you think but just need more patience.
