Why do i feel guilty after masturbating?
The story
Hey everyone! So, I just got back from this super intense religious retreat where they were all about chastity and virtues... 😅 Ever since then, I've been feeling all kinds of guilty after I masturbate. Like, before this retreat, nothing like this ever crossed my mind! I used to feel totally normal doing it but now guilt is just hanging over me like a dark cloud. It's kinda weird because it's something I've done for years without any issue. Now it's like there's this lingering voice in the back of my head questioning my actions and morals??!!
During the retreat, they really stressed how maintaining purity is important and how it can affect one's spirituality. It was honestly eye-opening at some points (which was good!) but also made me second guess a lot of personal choices.... Now I'm left asking myself every time if I've let down some kind of ethical standard or something. This new mindset has affected the way I look at things so much!! Even other small habits have come into question.
I'm trying to get to the bottom of why these feelings are hitting so hard after such a long time acting differently. All those talks and seminars got my thoughts all scrambled up, haha... 😂 Seriously though, does anyone else here experience that post-event guilt trip? Or am I just becoming overly sensitive to what I'd usually brush off as 'normal' behavior?! My logical side says it's okay to be human but this other part... wow...
Hoping sharing this will either find someone who gets it or maybe bring light on ways others have coped with similar stuff! If anyone's got tips or advice for battling these guilty vibes please share!! Would love to hear how you guys keep balance between self-expectations and natural inclinations ✨✨ Thanks!

ya know i think retreats r great n all but sometimes they mess with ur head more than help i mean who's to say wht u feel doin ur thing is bad idk maybe its just sumthin ur gonna hav2 reckon with cuz theres no one-size-fits-all answer y'know???
Totally agree with this - it's easy to get wrapped up in what they say.
i totally get how you're feeling!
so this reminds me of when my buddy went to a similar retreat and came back super paranoid about every little decision he made 😂; like he'd call me asking if it was okay to eat certain foods cuz they might have "negative energies" or something lol.
sounds like that retreat really shook things up for you, huh? it's totally normal to question stuff after such an experience. sometimes those intense environments can make our usual habits feel more scrutinized than they need to be. just remember, you don't have to change everything about yourself overnight just because some people at the retreat made a big deal out of it. everyone's got their own path... take what feels right and leave the rest behind 😊
it sounds like your mind is making it into a big deal when maybe it doesn’t need to be? sometimes we let things from these events take hold too much lol. i'd say relax a bit - you're not doing anything wrong.
Thanks for saying that! Maybe I'll try letting go a bit more.
It's rather fascinating how these retreats can plant seeds of doubt and guilt in our minds like that; it seems like you're reassessing your values now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but definitely confusing.
Yeah, that's exactly it! It's like the retreat flipped a switch in my head and now I'm questioning everything. So confusing and so unlike me.
dude, i totally get how those retreats can mess with your mind. but like just remember, we're all human and we all have our own way of living life; it's cool to question things but don't let it overshadow what feels right for you personally! maybe try chatting with someone outside the retreat stuff (could help balance out the thoughts) 😉
Have you tried talking to someone from the retreat about these feelings?
Good idea actually, I'll see if someone has advice on dealing with this guilt!
Hey, sounds like that retreat really got into your head! 🤔 Honestly, it's wild how some intense experiences can totally twist our usual thinking. Maybe try reminding yourself that those feelings are just thoughts influenced by the environment you were in and not inherent truths about who you are or what's right. I've been through something similar after a workshop; it took a while to shake off the guilt. Just keep checking in with what feels true to YOU, not just what was drilled into your brain during those sessions. You do you!
Man, those retreats can seriously mess with your head sometimes!
it's interesting how these retreats can really mess with our heads, isn't it?
Sounds like you've been hit by some intense guilt-trip from that retreat! I went through something similar after a seminar on diet culture. It really messes with your head, making you question what seemed simple before. Remember to cut yourself some slack! It's okay to feel conflicted after being in an environment that pushed specific values hard. Just try to sift through the noise and figure out what's genuinely important to you. Keep doing what feels right for you, and don't sweat the rest too much.
I totally get that! After getting back, even my morning coffee routine felt loaded with all these new "rules" in my head. It's like everything just got way too complicated overnight. Gonna try to sort through it all and keep what actually matters to me!
hey i dont think u did anything bad but if its bothering u then maybe reconsider ur approach
That's true! Sometimes reflecting helps ease that tension.
Dude, sounds like that retreat got you questioning everything real hard.
i get why you'd feel guilty coz those retreats are intense, huh? but remember that balance means accepting imperfections too! don't be too hard on yourself about it.
