Can't get a job
The story
okay i've been busting my butt sending out resumes like crazy for the past few months and attending every interview in sight. but man, i don't know what’s up - i keep getting rejected with no feedback whatsoever. it's lowkey frustrating! like, can someone at least tell me what went wrong??!
seriously, i'm doing everything they say to do - fine-tuning my resume, tailoring cover letters (ugh), and yes, even practicing those dreaded interview questions... still nothing. just when it feels like something promising shows up, and i'm sorta confident about it, BAM: radio silence. what's the deal??!! is the universe against me or something?
i even tried asking for advice from friends who've successfully landed jobs during this time – listened to their “wise” words, hoping maybe they'd help get things moving. but here i am! same spot!
maybe it's just bad luck or timing? or am i missing something crucial? a hidden code of sorts only known by successful job seekers? lol!😂 idk what more to do at this point... onwards and upwards as they say?!

maybe ur expectations are too high, just lower them a lil n ull be good
lower my expectations? i wish it were that simple, but i can't just settle for anything. there's a certain pay rate and type of job i'm aiming for. not trying to sound picky, just need something that covers the bills. adjusting them won't help if there's no feedback to work with!
I understand your frustration with the job market right now, it's truly challenging to feel stuck in this cycle of applications and rejections. However, it's not always about you doing something wrong (sometimes it's simply not the right fit on their end). Maybe reaching out directly for feedback could help create some resolution so you know how to move forward?
I totally get what you're saying. It’s like ghost town when it comes to feedback. I wish they'd just clue me in so I know if I'm missing something obvious! But yeah, maybe I’ll try reaching out more directly next time and see if they respond. Thanks for the suggestion!
man, i feel you. reminds me of that time i was sending out resumes while munching on ramen every night just to save a buck. every other day felt like hitting a brick wall with zero feedback. what clicked for me one day was randomly tweaking one small thing in my approach... sometimes it's all about the little shifts, ya know? keep going, dude!
omg same thing happened to me last year! it's so exhausting...
Man, I feel you on this!!! I once spent ages applying for jobs and literally got ghosted by every company. Not a single peep! It's like, how about just a quick email with some feedback? Once, I even went into an interview thinking I nailed it, and they were all smiles... then poof, never heard back. It's maddening!!! Something about the job market feels like it's rigged sometimes... hang in there!
Have you tried looking at different industries or roles that align with your skills, even if they're not exactly what you initially had in mind?
been in a similar spot and it's rough; the endless cycle of sending resumes and getting silence is brutal, especially when you're following all the advice; feels like there's a secret playbook out there that everyone else got. maybe leaning into networking a bit more could help? sometimes knowing someone on the inside can get your application seen in a different light. hang in there while continuing to apply, something's gotta give eventually!
i kinda agree but some times companies jus dont reply they're busy
Oh man, I totally feel you! It's such a rough spot when you're doing everything "right" and still not getting anywhere. I remember going through something similar where it felt like every job was just slipping through my fingers. Maybe there's nothing wrong on your end? Sometimes it's just about finding the right fit or maybe there's stuff happening on their side that has nothing to do with you. It's hard... Have you thought about switching up where you're applying or trying out different fields for a bit? It might help shake things up a little. 🤷♂️ Good luck!!
Yeah, maybe I need to switch things up a bit. Trying different fields could be interesting... or at least less frustrating! Let's see what happens with that. Thanks for the suggestion!
It's puzzling to not receive feedback after putting in so much effort. It sounds like a systemic issue more than anything; being ghosted isn't uncommon, and it sure doesn't help improve your approach. Maybe experimenting with networking or leveraging platforms like LinkedIn might yield different results. Reaching out to hiring managers directly can also sometimes remove the middleman obstacles of HR filter processes. Stay persistent!
I think sometimes silence just means they moved on with another candidate.
been there before too dude! honestly makes you question yourself a lot more than u should but maybe its more about quantity right now? cast a wider net!
dude, hang in there! the job search can honestly be such a grind. sometimes it really is just about timing and luck feels like waiting forever for your turn on a broken carnival ride. maybe it's worth trying something totally different like switching up where you're looking or even the type of roles you’re applying for; had a buddy who found success after broadening his search to remote gigs. anyway, keep pushing through;😊 you've got this!
dude, that sounds like a rough patch for sure! sometimes it feels like you're playing bingo but someone else keeps all the cards; you put so much effort in and get nothing back. maybe it's not just luck or timing, it might be worth checking if there's a sneaky trend you haven't spotted yet... like what if there's some weird industry-specific unwritten rule nobody mentions? doesn't hurt to chat with folks who're insiders, they might spill beans on something we're missing. keep your chin up, something's gotta give.
Been there and it's a whole circus trying to figure out what these hiring folks are looking for! 😒 It's like they got some secret handshake or decoder ring we don’t have. Maybe give it a shot with contract work or short-term gigs? Sometimes those lead to more stable positions. Have you checked into remote jobs too? They might open a few more doors when local stuff isn't hitting. What’s your strategy on following up after interviews, because sometimes being persistent helps show how interested you are; but damn if they can't even throw us a bone with feedback, right?! Keep at it!!
This brings back memories of when I was searching for a job two years ago. I remember one company finally emailed me after a month of ghosting!
wow yeah tell me about it had such high hopes with an interview once then poof gone into thin air just like that.
honestly i'm feeling quite unsure these days about the whole application journey you mention... like is there really something key we're missing? also figured the economy's part of it messin things up.
