"Fill my waterbottle," when the RO is just steps away!!! It seema like a maid of theirs, than a job that I am being paid for.... You are being taunted/scolded on every step.... without an option of giving reasons....Why are some people there of some sort?why can't people have humanity!!

i totally get your frustration 😕 it's really disappointing when you're in such a demanding and high-pressure environment like a hospital, busting your ass and trying to learn, but instead of being met with encouragement or even just basic kindness, you face a wall of constant negativity. it's kinda disheartening when senior staff treat interns like personal assistants rather than future colleagues trying to gain hands-on experience. feels like some of them forget what it's like to be in your shoes, right? the lack of appreciation can be soul-crushing, especially when you're already overwhelmed with responsibilities. unfortunately, it seems like some people in the healthcare field are burnt out or just plain lacking empathy, which can create a pretty toxic atmosphere. hope things improve for you soon and you get the support or mentorship you need. hang in there!

don't you think maybe there's another side to this?? like, it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed as an intern in a hospital setting where the learning curve is steep and expectations high; but maybe those seniors are under immense pressure themselves, balancing patient care with teaching responsibilities!!! everyone has their own struggles in healthcare, and sometimes it's easy to misinterpret their actions as intentional disregard or lack of humanity. consider if they're unintentionally projecting their stress or striving to keep the workflow efficient under demanding conditions?? maybe they're expecting you to grow not just clinically but in resilience too. ever thought about having an open convo with them about how you feel?? might bridge some gaps.

Ofcourse, not each one of them...I have seen the calm side of some theirs too...But yeah, there are some departments where there is a hierarchy of spreading toxic behaviour..I have pondered it in a while, when work could be done calmly, still they choose chaos over it..On the other side, there are seniors, departments, working more restlessly yet with peace.

absolutely feel your pain there; i've been through similar stuff during my internship days too. it's like you're just trying to do your best to keep up with the workflow, but sometimes it feels like a never-ending cycle of menial tasks and constant stress. when you mentioned the "fill my waterbottle" thing, it really brought back memories! i remember once being asked to grab coffee when i was swamped with patient charts. sometimes it feels like they see interns as just an extra pair of hands rather than members of the team trying to learn and grow. one of my mentors used to say, "you're here to learn, not to fetch and carry," and i clung to that during tough days. i totally agree with what you're going through, and it's so important to have even a tiny bit of appreciation. hang in there, it does get better eventually when you find those few people who really support and guide you.

And if not appreciation, then please don't taunt...On the one side of coin, you want us to help you at tiny bits and on the other side if we do a slight of wrong or we are late you are taunting at us!!We too are humans not machines!!!

man, i feel you so much on this!!! working in a hospital can be rough, right? it’s like you're doing everything by the book but still treated like an invisible cog in the machine; once had a doc who acted like smiling would cost him his job 🤷‍♂️ it's really discouraging when all you wanna do is learn and be part of the team, but they just heap grunt work on you. can't count how many times i was asked to do stuff that had nothing to do with learning while everyone acted irritated all day?! sometimes i wonder if they forget what it's like to be at the bottom of the food chain. hope you get to work with some nicer folks soon!

seriously? what's their problem??? totally get where you're coming from. been there, done that in the hospital grind 😒 like, you’re busting your butt and still get treated like a servant; been told to do pointless stuff when i just wanted to learn something important. some seniors just love to act all high and mighty without any reason. maybe they forgot what it's like to be in our shoes or they're just power-tripping?🙄 can't even get a simple smile or a "thanks" most of the time!!! it’s crazy how they expect us to magically put up with everything and pretend like it’s all good! just hang tight and maybe try to find some people who don’t suck to work with.

honestly, while i can sympathize with your frustration, have you considered that maybe the seniors are exceptionally stressed due to the high-pressure hospital environment? 🤔 working in healthcare is no walk in the park, and sometimes attitudes are more about the stress of patient outcomes than actual disregard for interns. perhaps you could view these tasks, even the mundane ones like “fill my water bottle,” as opportunities to engage with colleagues and learn the ropes of everyday operations; how else are you going to build resilience and adaptability in such a demanding field? showing initiative in small tasks can sometimes earn you the respect and trust that opens doors to more meaningful responsibilities. have you thought about discussing your concerns directly and professionally with your supervisors? sometimes speaking up is all it takes to foster a better working relationship. 🙂

And what about those who have the same level of stress, yet they are calm and they handle every situation so calmly and smoothly!!!

maybe they look calm, but inside they might be breaking too. Not everyone shows the storm the same way!
