The story

I recently moved to a new city for work and, despite my best efforts, I'm struggling to feel accepted by my colleagues. It's a small team and I often find myself on the outside looking in when it comes to inside jokes or lunch plans. Not once have I been included, even though I've gone out of my way to be friendly and open. It feels like no matter how hard I try, they just don't want me there.

Not sure if it's just me overthinking or if there's really something there. Part of me thinks that maybe they are intentionally excluding me. But then again, that's not very realistic is it? Maybe they're just used to each other and I'm simply the newcomer who hasn't fit in yet; it's not like anyone is openly hostile or anything, but the feeling of being overlooked is hard to shake.

I've tried different approaches - asking questions about their interests or sharing a bit about what I like - but nothing seems to click. Honestly, it's exhausting trying so hard only to feel like you're invisible most of the time. There are even moments where I can't help but wonder if perhaps there's something about me that's causing this disconnect. Feeling isolated in a new place isn't fun... Just need a little reassurance that things can get better.
