The story

so there i was, at this family gathering, stuck talking to a distant cousin i barely knew. honestly, these events can be so boring but you go because it's family. everyone was the same, discussing the usual stuff like jobs and weather when out of nowhere, this cousin suddenly asked me about my art; no one in the family really cared about it before, they just nodded politely whenever it came up. but she seemed genuinely interested and started asking questions about what i do and why i'm passionate about it.

it caught me off guard: her curiosity felt real. as we talked more, she didn't dismiss my passion or pretend to get it just to move on. she told me how much she appreciated creativity and how she could never draw but loved music for similar reasons; finally someone got it! i realized that maybe not everyone is too busy or uninterested – some people really want to understand. that moment changed something inside me.

when we finished our conversation, i felt lighter and like someone had seen a part of me that usually stays hidden. i know not everyone is going to get my passion but having just one person acknowledge it made such a difference. i'm going to keep this with me for those times when i doubt myself or feel invisible... all because of an unexpected chat at a family get-together.
