how to trust again?
The story
finding out that a close friend has been spinning tall tales about something I thought was pretty sensitive has really thrown me for a loop. now, every time I think about our friendship, I can’t help but wonder what’s real and what’s just a fabrication. it’s like I’ve got a permanent filter of skepticism over everything. how did I not see this sooner?
I used to trust without a second thought, but now I’m left questioning everything. do I just pretend everything’s back to normal, or do I keep my guard up? it’s tough to figure out whether to try and rebuild that confidence or just accept that I’m going to be cautious for a while. sure, the idea of reconciling sounds nice, but those memories of betrayal just pop back into my head like an unwelcome guest.
moving forward feels like I need to look at friendships with fresh eyes. I want to be hopeful and open, but my past experiences are holding me back. trust is supposed to be the foundation, but it feels more like quicksand right now. every step forward feels like it could lead to another shift, and I’m just trying to find some balance while still keeping my heart somewhat open.
