Falling dreams

The story

Hey everyone, I've been having these strange recurring dreams. In each one, I'm falling from a great height... like really, really high up! Sometimes it's terrifying; I wake up in a cold sweat with my heart pounding like crazy. Other times when I finally wake up, there's this odd sense of relief... almost like something bad was about to happen but didn't? 🤔 It's confusing and kinda freaks me out occasionally.

I've read somewhere that dreams about falling might indicate that you're feeling insecure or out of control in some part of your life. I'm not exactly sure what it could be in my case though. My job is demanding, sure, lots of deadlines and hectic schedules: typical stuff in a business environment... oh those ridiculous time constraints. But overall things seem fine on the surface at least... you know? Yet every few nights here they come again: plummeting through the air into nothingness!

The thing is these dreams disturb my sleep quality (insomnia truly sucks) so now besides yawning all day I also wonder about their significance (if any). Are they really pointing at something subconscious lurking underneath waiting for an interpretive dance moment? I mean philosophers have long debated the realms between conscious activity versus unconscious musings right? And we humans tend to seek patterns even where there might not be any at all... Does anyone have insights or similar experiences? I'd love some input or perhaps book recommendations related.
