why do i feel sad at night?
The story
do you ever just lie in bed late at night and feel like the world is closing in on you? man, my days are usually pretty decent, ya know? i got friends to laugh with, work’s going alright, and there's always something good on Netflix. but then nighttime hits me like a ton of bricks. it’s weird how solitude can kinda magnify these anxieties. suddenly every worry i pushed aside during the day seems to scream for attention! trying to fall asleep is like staring into an abyss of thoughts that won't shut up... it makes no sense because by morning they’ll be gone until the next evening when they come back all over again.
i remember reading about someone who called this feeling 'the witching hour' of emotions. it sort of makes sense in a weird way. it's as if those hidden fears wait patiently for the quiet moments to resurface where there’s nothing else to distract me from them. even mundane stuff amps up... like worrying i've left my oven on or whether that comment i made online was taken wrong (it probably wasn't but what if?). 🤔 can anyone relate?
another person told me once that maybe this is a sign something deeper is bugging us! stuff we don’t wanna face straight on when we’re busy doing life during daylight hours. kinda makes sense because, dude, who has time to sit down and think about unresolved feelings when you're trying not to spill coffee on yourself before your big meeting?
honestly, i also wonder if it's just plain old loneliness sneaking up disguised as something more sinister. even though i'm generally surrounded by people doesn't mean i don't feel lonely sometimes... like there’s a gap between us that gets wider at night? that sound crazy??
idk why but putting these thoughts out there sorta helps too… like unloading heavy bags after carrying them all night long. anyone else battling these unexpected blues under moonlight? any tips would be welcome!
