why do i want to be alone and not talk to anyone?
The story
sometimes, i can't help but feel like i'm drowning in a sea of social obligations. you know that feeling? it's like everything around me is just begging for my attention and all i want to do is retreat into my quiet little bubble. i mean, i don't hate people or anything! quite the opposite... i have some good mates who are always there for me (for which i'm truly grateful). but it's just exhausting to constantly be 'on'. when life gets hectic with meetings, deadlines and even just casual hangouts with friends, the pressure piles up real fast; i find myself yearning for solitude more than ever.
i've read somewhere: 'to love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance', and oh man, do i crave that introspective romance sometimes. believe it or not but staying in bed binge-watching some series while munching on snacks can feel way more fulfilling than any social gathering... at times at least! there's an overwhelming amount of digital noise too - whatsapp pings, social media notifications etc., pulling me in every direction except inward. balancing between real-world interactions and online personas seems impossible at best when you're just not in the mood. it's uncanny how wanting to just be by yourself can somehow make you feel guilty or even 'anti-social'. why is recharging my own battery considered undesirable? anyone else feeling this?
like there’s no denying it: humans are hardwired for connection yet sometimes my brain screams for silence as if it’s become saturated with conversations and small talk... man, does that get tiring. being alone isn't synonymous with loneliness though! maybe it's our society's obsession with extroversion that's skewed this narrative? Ultimately we need time away from others to connect better when we're together again – space to breathe without judgement or expectations hanging over us daily like an invisible cloak of responsibility haha! so yeah my question remains simple really: why do i crave isolation amidst chaos and how can one embrace periods of self-imposed silence without grappling feelings of inadequacy?
