i just want to be single
The story
i been in and out of relationships like all my life. it's like just one after another, no pause, no time to breathe. i always thought i needed someone by my side, a partner to complete me or whatever (at least that's what romantic movies tells us). but lately, it's different; something inside me is changing. the thought of just being alone doesn't scare me anymore, it actually sounds kinda nice.
when you're constantly in a relationship, you don't really get to know yourself, you know? it's like you're always adapting to the other person(what they like, what they want)and then there's so little room left for your own preferences. i can't even remember the last time i did something just because 'i' wanted it without considering someone else's feelings first.
i'm starting to wonder if maybe this time could be my chance to explore who i am when i'm not attached. maybe we are conditioned to think that we're only complete when we're with someone else but if that's true how come we're born alone? since when did society decide that being single is such a tragedy?
this realization hit me hard recently during a quiet moment: do i even genuinely want another relationship or am i just following an ingrained pattern? not sure anymore. it'd be nice not having to worry about someone else's schedule or preferences for once. perhaps being single isn't as dreadful as everyone makes it out to be; thoughts?
