Bad mood
The story
Today was one of those days where things just didn’t align as well as they should have. I found myself in the supermarket, wandering through aisles laden with everyday necessities, when a slight altercation took place. It was trivial at best, a simple misunderstanding with another customer over which line to join; yet it spiraled into me snapping at this unsuspecting fellow shopper. Not my proudest moment by any means, and as I left the store clutching my groceries tighter than I intended, I could not shake off the interaction that had set an uneasy tone for my day.
The lingering question that followed me home was whether this minor spat was simply a consequence of the environment or if there were deeper currents of dissatisfaction bubbling under the surface. Was it the incessant hum of fluorescent lights desensitizing me, or perhaps the culmination of unspoken stressors manifesting in public? This internal dialogue led me to recollect a quote: “You have power over your mind... not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” The irony does not escape me; asserting control over one's own mood is much easier in theory than putting it into practice amid daily chores. Yet a hopeful part of me wants to believe that each day is an opportunity to start fresher and lighter! or so that’s what they say...
