double homework
The story
I'm totally swamped with schoolwork and all these volunteer commitments. It's like I'm trying to keep everything balanced but then last night I got hit with this weird curveball. My teacher accidentally gave me an extra homework assignment. Like seriously? I already have so much on my plate that it feels like I'm running on a treadmill that just keeps speeding up. I’m barely sleeping as it is, and now I’m wondering if I should even say anything to her about the mistake or just suck it up and deal with it.
So this all started during what was supposed to be a regular class meeting last night. I was sitting there and noticed my homework list looked way longer than normal. Turns out my teacher, bless her heart, sent me the same instructions another student got because of some mix-up with a new software she was trying out. It’s just one of those things that happens in school, I guess, but for someone like me who’s juggling so much already, it just feels heavy. I mean volunteering is supposed to be rewarding but it also drains a ton of energy, way more than people think.
Now I’m just staring at my desk full of papers and my screen glowing way past the time I should be asleep. I’m really debating whether I should go talk to my teacher about this mistake. She’s usually really understanding and wants us to communicate, but part of me thinks that bringing it up is just gonna take more mental energy that I could be using on other things.
But then again, there’s this little voice in my head telling me to push through. It’s like that determination that kicks in when I’m working late at night and it feels like the clock is mocking me. Sometimes I remind myself that I’ve handled tough stuff before, but man, right now it just feels like a lot.

yeah i feel you but maybe just ask first next time!!
True! Asking would save some stress.
I'm considering it. It's like weighing the immediate relief of asking against the effort of dealing with it quietly. Part of me worries about piling more onto my teacher's plate too, but reaching out would likely clear things up faster. Plus, it's a chance to practice that communication we value so much in our department. Thanks for the nudge!
kina feel u but try talkin 2 ur tmcher insteadof doin all taht xtra ps wont hrt
Honestly didn't think of talking to her right away.
Man, that sounds rough. 🤦♂️ Tbh, I'd probably just talk to the teacher about it. If she's usually understanding and open, why not let her know she mixed things up? Everyone makes mistakes and maybe she can sort it out quickly so you don't waste any more time on it; And hey, I've been in a similar boat before. Once I had this crazy mix-up where my boss gave me tasks intended for someone way above my pay grade. Figured being upfront was the best move, turned out alright. Anyway, how's your volunteering going? Is there some way to dial back your hours until things settle down?
It seems like you're experiencing what some might call "cognitive overload," a situation where the brain's processing capacity is overwhelmed due to multiple simultaneous tasks. However, I'd consider reevaluating the importance you place on each task: priorities might aid in reducing the perceived burden; For instance, asking yourself if every commitment is necessary right now could be beneficial. While your teacher's error indicates a bug in her workflow, communicating this issue isn't just sharing your burden but potentially refining others' work practices too. It reinforces Peter Drucker's idea that effective communication is critical in any organizational setup. That said, overlooking it might temporarily save energy but resolving it could offer longer-term relief. Just something to ponder on in your strategic approach to time management and task prioritization.
I once had extra assignments because of a similar mistake and speaking up helped sort it out quickly.
Sounds pretty rough, but honestly, just tell your teacher she made a mistake; not worth getting all stressed for no reason.
Man, that sounds super stressful! It's totally understandable to feel swamped with everything you're juggling. But here's the thing: if it was a mistake, it's worth speaking up. If your teacher's cool and values communication, she might even appreciate you letting her know about the mix-up. Plus, being buried in extra work that wasn't meant for you won't do anyone any favors in the long run. 😅
idk sometimes you gotta try overwork but its confusing
Trying usually works out well though!
Man, that's a tough spot to be in. I once had something similar happen when my prof sent me extra assignments by mistake; I was drowning with other stuff too. Decided to speak up and it worked out fine because he was understanding about the mix-up. Plus, sometimes these things help build rapport with the teacher: they'll appreciate knowing there's room for improvement on their end too. As for the volunteering, maybe it's worth reevaluating how much you're taking on until things calm down a bit? Sometimes dialing back just a smidge can make all the difference in keeping your sanity intact.
just do it lol
Ok... :-)
Wow, that sounds like quite a juggling act you've got going on! 😅 It might be worth considering how talking to your teacher could lead to a positive outcome not just for you, but maybe even for others dealing with the same tech snafu. Besides, honesty usually tends to earn some brownie points with teachers, you know? Alongside tackling this mix-up, maybe carving out tiny breaks could help recharge your batteries in the middle of everything; hang in there and remember, every problem has its solution.
Thanks, I get what you mean! It's just like... ugh, I have zero energy left to deal with more stuff on top of this. But yeah, could be right about honesty helping (sigh). I think the whole situation is just making my head spin. Gotta find a break somewhere, somehow.
Honestly, from one student to another, I'd say it's totally okay to cut yourself some slack here and let your teacher know about the mix-up, but in my experience, sometimes just getting one extra assignment out of the way quietly can feel like a ninja move that boosts your confidence.
evryone makes mistakes,, tell ur teacher they probably dont know bout it.
Why even hesitate? You know you got dumped with unnecessary work; just talk to her and clear it up. You've been managing your whole school-volunteer circus admirably, but this screw-up isn't on you to own, right?! And seriously, if you're already stretched thin, finding ways to offload some of those volunteer hours until the storm passes might just give you that breather you desperately need. Just keep moving forward, one step at a time!
maybe just rest more?
You should bring it up with your teacher because they might not realize there's an issue.
Your teacher will understand if you explain.
i see how it cuold be confusing doing too much hw like that without knowing for sure if its worth asking is hard
