why did my dream feel so real?

The story

yo so i woke up last night like super confused. you ever have one of those dreams that leaves you like "uhh what just happened?" it's mad weird how real they can feel. so here's the deal: i dreamed i was back in my old high school gym, yeah, the place where a lotta funny stuff happened, and i could legit hear the echoes of mr. harrison's voice, our old p.e. teacher who used to yell like crazy during class. it felt too real for a dream, like almost twilight zone real.

so here’s the kicker: i've been thinking about hitting the gym again recently, so maybe that's why my brain took me there. but dude! when you can smell the sweat and hear those squeaky sneakers on the court, you're left questioning stuff like is this even a dream or did i somehow time travel? lol. basically i've been tossing around the idea of reliving some past moments cuz real life’s been kinda dull lately with work and whatever.

i dunno about y'all but sometimes when i'm stressed out or caught up in thinking about boring things at work, my brain goes all nostalgic mode in dreams, mixing scenes from way back with recent memories. anyone else get that?

it kinda makes sense when i think about how vivid past memories are getting squished together with present thoughts in my mind. it's wild how your unconscious mind works overtime trying to make sense of life's mundanity by mashing it up in a dream sequence that leaves you puzzled on waking up.

I think dreams tend to exaggerate reality sometimes. Maybe it's just your subconscious adding some drama to regular memories.
