I am useless
The story
feeling totally useless rn. i lost my job, and it's seriously messing with my head. like, i can't seem to do anything right these days. everything went downhill so fast, and I'm just stuck here wondering what the heck to do next. I'm kinda embarrassed about it all, so I've been avoiding my friends and family. they don't need to see me like this when I don't even know how to explain what's going on.
it's crazy how much a job loss can shake up your confidence! sometimes i just lay in bed thinking about all the ways I failed, like replaying a bad movie over in my head. i feel like there's this huge gap between who I was and who I am now; but yet I'm trying to remind myself of that one quote "every great dream begins with a dreamer"....it's cheesy, but maybe there's something there?
i've always heard people say that things happen for a reason, that doors close so others can open or whatever. honestly tho, doesn't feel like any door is opening right now. i'm not sure where to even begin rebuilding everything that's fallen apart.
oh man... am i rambling? 🙄 anyway, i'm hoping putting this all out there might help me get some clarity or maybe meet someone who's been through the same thing. idk, just trying to stay positive while figuring stuff out.

why avoid them?
Maybe they could support you?
it's hard to face them, ya know? i don't want them to see me like this and have to explain everything when i'm not even sure myself. it's embarrassing and frustrating.
It's really tough losing a job because it feels like such a big part of your life has shifted or been taken away. Maybe it's an opportunity in disguise though? Sometimes changes force us into new paths we wouldn't have dared take before.
Opportunity in disguise, love that thought!
just try harder!!
i guess you're right... i probably do need to try harder, but what if trying harder just isn't enough? sometimes it feels like i'm doing a lot and getting nowhere fast. it's tough when you don't even know where to start.
Hey, I totally relate to what you're going through. Losing a job is rough and it can really take a toll on your self-esteem and emotional well-being; that's just part of the whole deal. Avoiding your friends and family might seem like the easiest option right now, but maybe sharing even a little with them could help lighten the load you're carrying. There's no shame in feeling lost or unsure about the future, we all get there at some point in our lives.
That quote you mentioned about dreamers rings true… sometimes finding that inner dreamer means giving yourself permission to pause and reassess without judgment or expectation. Life has this annoying tendency to throw curveballs, but those experiences often lead to growth and new opportunities (even when they aren't immediately obvious). Keep cutting yourself some slack because you've got this and things are bound to turn around soon!
being in that limbo after losing a job is rough, no doubt about it, and it's so easy to spiral into negative thoughts.
for sure. it's like i'm just stuck in a loop, you know? gotta break out of it somehow.
how long since you lost?
I gotta say, blaming yourself for something that's not entirely in your control is a bit harsh; jobs can be fickle beasts and losing one isn't as uncommon as you might think.
Thanks for saying that. It’s comforting to hear that job loss isn't as rare as it feels right now. I guess I'm just caught up in my own head, overthinking everything.
u sure its ur fault??
I don't think it's entirely my fault, but it's hard not to feel like I'm part of the mess. Sometimes circumstances are just out of our control, I guess. It's tough sorting through everything in my head.
Man, I get why you're feeling overwhelmed right now. Losing a job can really mess with your head and make you question everything about yourself. The transition from having stability to suddenly being in limbo is rough, no doubt about it. Maybe take a bit of time for yourself and figure out what you truly want moving forward (little steps come first). It sounds like you're already doing some self-reflection, so give yourself credit for just making it this far despite how rough it feels. Keep hanging in there!
Thanks, I really appreciate that. It's tough to see the positives through all this right now, but taking small steps sounds like solid advice. I'll try to give myself a break and figure things out bit by bit, you know?
Losing your job sucks big time, but it doesn't mean you're useless or failed; every single person has been kicked down by life at some point, so cut yourself some slack and remember you're not alone in this mess.
maybe give them a chance to understand.
