Person sad
The story
the rain keeps hitting my window and it just makes me feel so alone. I moved here to start fresh, cut off from my friends, and now I’m just stuck in this place where I don’t belong. everyone thinks rain is calming or whatever but to me, it’s just a reminder of how isolated I feel. I thought making friends would be easy but it’s like trying to break through a wall. every time I try to talk to someone, I just end up feeling more awkward and out of place.
I miss laughing with my old friends. now it’s like I’m in a social maze where I can’t even find the way out. simple conversations feel so complicated. I can’t figure out the unspoken rules here. sometimes it feels like I’m shouting into a void and nobody hears me. I want to fit in but I feel like I’m just floating on the outside looking in.
I read somewhere that accepting yourself is the first step to change but honestly, how can I accept myself when I just want people to like me? it’s so frustrating. I want to be real but I’m scared of being rejected. do I have to pretend to be someone I’m not just to be accepted? I just wish I could find a place where I could be myself. it’s exhausting trying to figure all of this out while feeling so out of place.

why does rain do that to you tho? maybe it's somethin else makin you sad?
I don't know, maybe it’s just the irony of rain being all comforting and peaceful when my life feels anything but. Sure, other things might be at play too, but it's hard to ignore how even the small stuff seems against me these days.
it sounds like you’re letting the rain get to you a bit more than it should. sure, it's gloomy and kind of sucks sometimes but maybe it's not about what’s outside your window. moving can mess with your head for sure but wallowing in it will only make things worse. finding new friends doesn’t happen overnight; people aren’t just gonna flock to you without some effort on both ends. instead of blaming the atmosphere, maybe try focusing on how you're approaching these social situations.
i totally get what you're saying about the rain. like, it can feel more like a weight than something calming when you already feel down. i remember moving to a new city for work and feeling so out of place too. everything seemed overwhelming like i was living in my own little bubble while everyone else was connected. maybe finding small routines could help? it did for me! even just chatting with someone at a coffee shop regularly made me feel less isolated over time. you know? sometimes, those tiny connections are surprising... they can add up to bigger ones eventually!
rain can make people feel a lot of different things, man. you've got every right to your own vibe with it. you moved and that’s a huge change; it's normal for things to feel off kilter for a while. finding friends does take time but try not to let the fear of rejection hold you back too much... you deserve to be around folks who appreciate the real you, no acting needed.
Man, I really get it. Moving somewhere new seems so romantic in theory, but it often turns out to be this giant hassle of trying to blend into a totally different social ecosystem; the feeling like no matter what you do or say, you're one step behind in some kind of invisible social game makes it even worse. It’s weird how small stuff like weather can amplify those feelings too. When I moved, it felt like every mundane event became a billboard for my loneliness, like hearing people laugh and realizing you wouldn’t have anyone around even if you'd cracked the best joke ever.
But somehow that's part of acclimation (part laid-back understanding that maybe it'll suck less tomorrow because you’re giving yourself the chance)even when stuck watching raindrops while feeling utterly adrift.
i totally understand how you feel once had to move schools and it was tough making new friends at first.
have you tried finding some local events or groups to attend where you could meet people? it might be a good way to start connecting with folks who share similar interests! 😊 meeting new people can definitely feel like walking through that social maze, but you never know when something great could come from taking those little steps. what kind of activities do you usually enjoy; maybe that could help narrow down places you might want to check out?
I had a similar experience when I moved away from home for college. At first, I felt like I was lost without the familiar faces around me. It took time to build up those relationships again and find my place. Slowly but surely things got better and now I'm glad for the change.
Hearing that things eventually got better for you is somewhat reassuring. It's just hard to envision reaching that point when every new interaction feels like an uphill climb. I guess patience has to be part of the process, even though it can feel endless.
i dunno man sometimes i think we put too much pressure on ourselves like maybe everything will eventually work out but other times it feels overwhelming right
rain can mess with your mood, no doubt about it. everyone romanticizes it like it's poetry in motion, but when you're already feeling like an outsider, it just amplifies that emptiness. moving's tough enough without the extra noise of trying to decode new social rules that make no sense at all. maybe try flipping the script a bit: let the rain be your space for some self-reflection or even creativity instead of letting it drown you in loneliness? turning what feels like a negative into something slightly positive might change how you view things over time.
Totally understand where you're coming from! Moving across states during high school was disorienting for me too.
maybe just chill?
easy to say... x)
Rain reminding you of such a painful moment seems excessive honestly... Maybe try focusing on creating new memories instead? Dwelling on fleeting moments isn't productive.
