how to stop staring at people?
The story
attending this business seminar and it's like whoa, focus is a myth. Too many people around me, fidgeting, texting, even that one guy who keeps coughing like come on! i'm here trying to soak in all the industry-specific nuggets but my eyes have their own agenda. Suddenly, i lock eyes with jen from accounting (i think that's her name) and now we're in this awkward staring contest; she looks at me like i creeped her out or something during the break. kill me now.
so here's the deal: I can't keep letting this blow my professional reputation. last thing i need is for colleagues to think i'm some kind of weirdo who stares at everyone. been reading 'how to win friends and influence people' (yeah yeah, ironic) but gotta find a way to stare less at colleagues and more at my goals. anyone else struggle with this? maybe there's a secret trick out there... please help before jen turns our next meeting into an intervention.
